I had a great time working with Younes. I visited for six weeks from December to mid-January, and I had a really nice time. I was supposed to work at a hostel in the city. but that fell through *as I was arriving* to Tangier. I was confused and didn't know how I was going to spend my time, but, luckily, Younes was "looking for help immediately" and responded very quickly to my message. I really did just about everything here. The first three or four weeks were all just painting: I painted doors, windowsills, cupboards, and other things. Then we transitioned to a mix of painting, random chores/technical things, and babysitting. I got to spend a lot of time with his wonderful sons -- both are just so sweet and playful! The living situation wasn't entirely clear to me initially. The garden photo is a picture of the hill across the street. Younes owns a set of guesthouses that are essentially apartments with private rooms for multiple guests (shared guesthouses). I met so many people from all over the world; I made some new friends, and a highlight of my time was when I, Younes, and three other Francophones went to the Mali vs Senegal game at the Grand Stadium. The location is really nice, right next to Merchane and a bunch of really affordable shops and whatnot, so it makes cooking and living in the area relaxing and easy. It's about a 15-20min walk to the old medina. There is a coworking cafe very close-by for those that want to concentrate on personal work and such. The only complaint that I have is that I sometimes felt overworked -- I was (still am) working on a large project and didn't always have as much time to work on it as I wanted. Younes certainly put me to work, but he is also very flexible and lenient, so it all depends on the type of work/help he needs. All in all, I had a very positive experience and am hoping to be able to visit Younes and his family again sometime soon!

i stayed on the farm for about two weeks. what they do for the animals is amazing! the work can be quite physical at times (shuffling shit, feeding, walking the dogs) and a bit mundane, but you usually never work alone - so that's nice! There are 6 different areas you'll be assigned to, so you get to have a bit of variation which is nice! And you never really work alone so that's really nice as well. The workaway house is a very rustic (Very old, not good isolated, walls are super thin - so you can hear the busy road), there's only one shower for about 15-20 volunteers. There are also house chores which the volunteers are supposed to do each day - unfortunately when I was there some people just didn't do them. Also there's only one dinning table for about 12 people, so if it's a full house not everyone can sit, which is unfortunate. That being sad they're looking into building a "container village" this year, with more space / showers etc. -> which I think will improve the overall living conditions quite a bit. I still had a good time and for me two weeks was a perfect length of stay. You get to meet new people and connect which is super nice! As mentioned before the work they do for the animals (rescuing, saving etc.) is just amazing and so important! You do get the feeling like you can contribute to that.

I’m so grateful to this wonderful family for helping me during a really stressful, last minute situation when my previous host suddenly told me I had to leave earlier than planned. From the moment I arrived, they welcomed me with kindness, warmth, and genuine care. They made sure I was comfortable, well fed, and felt safe, which meant more to me than I can express. I also really enjoyed the work it was easy, fun and they provided me with everything I needed to get the job done and stay safe while doing it. They are truly amazing, beautiful people with big hearts, and I feel so lucky to have met them. I highly recommend staying with them if you get the chance, you’ll be in the best hands.

Emma stayed with us for a week. She was lovely, respectful, helpful, tidy and easy going. She was great with our kids and did some cleaning tasks as well. She was hardworking and flexible. She also helped with cooking and made some yummy vegetarian meals. We would definitely recommend her and would happily host her again.

Fede visited us with the Italian group and contributed her time and energy to support our project. She worked wonderfully with the children, creating a meaningful and positive impact through her engagement and care. During her two weeks with us, she built a strong and genuine bond not only with the children but also with the entire team. Her kindness, enthusiasm, and willingness to help made her presence truly special for everyone involved. We are grateful for the time she shared with us and wish her all the very best for her future journey. We sincerely hope our paths cross again someday.

I stayed with Marc and Ross for 3 weeks and it was amazing! I did many different tasks: painting, helping with the van, farm, weeding, cleaning, and construction tasks. Marc has a lot of projects in mind. He's very patient with explaining and always has a smile on his face :) I worked with Ross for just one day (her day off from her work) and learnt a lot about plants on that day! The work was mostly light, but some days also physically a bit heavy, but that's okay :) Thank you Marc and Ross for the wonderful experience!

Dear readers of this profile, My feedback is a few weeks late, but part of my heart is still in Kampala. I spent 1.5 months in Kampala, but due to the intensity of the experience and the depth of the emotions, it feels like it was way longer. This experience is life-changing, so be prepared for that. I was and still am deeply impressed by what Sandra, Rita, Justin, and the entire NGO are doing for refugee women, many of whom come from the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Sudan, or other neighboring countries, and how they devote all their time and energy to helping these women in need. I have never heard more brutal stories than those told to us by the refugee women—stories of violence, flight, loss, oppression, torture, and sexual abuse. At the same time, I have never met such strong women. Be prepared to cry, to feel anger and sadness, to hear about pain you may never have heard of before—but also be prepared for an incredibly deep and authentic experience, for encounters with people who will inspire you forever, for a feeling of deep gratitude, for laughing and dancing together, for new friendships, and for your heart to be deeply touched.

I stayed at the Workaway run by Sasha and his wife for 5 days in January, and it was a great experience, it is a place I would highly recommend. The location is great, around 7km to the Southeast of Pai town, close enough to easily reach town, but far enough away to have a chill, secluded vibe. It's slightly up in the mountains, which gives it beautiful views of the valley below. There are communal hammocks you can use, and the highlight of my stay was lying in one during the evenings, watching the sunset. The accommodations are nice, there is a clean bathroom, outdoor shower, and kitchen area (sink fridge/freezer kettle) which are shared among the guests. The bed is a mattress and blankets with a mosquito net on the Bamboo bungalows, so you do technically sleep outside. I thought it was a very pleasant temperature at night, but some others thought it was slightly on the colder side and bundled up before bed. Sasha and his wife are super kind hosts, during my stay they cooked dinner for us twice, BBQ and fried rice. Sasha is fun to talk to, and is always down to give advice or suggestions about activities to do in Pai. My final day, he drove me into town and dropped me off at the Pai bus station. As the listing says, there's nothing absolutely required of you when staying in terms of work. However, there is quite a lot of demand for this particular Workaway, so if you want to stay longer than a couple nights, you should expect to help around 1-3 hours a day. What you help with depends on what you want to do, and what projects Sasha is working on, while I was there we did some gardening and moved a dirt pile. I always helped out early in the morning when it was cool, but you basically have unlimited flexibility in terms of when you help and how much you help. My experience was great, the vibes of the place were super laid back, it was a very relaxing stay. I would definitely recommend, and if I ever go back to Pai I would love to stay there again.

We were so incredibly happy to stay for two weeks in September at Lotte and Torben's beautiful farm. They were super welcoming, sharing many things about their way of living and attitude towards life. We had meaningful conversations at the dinner table and were laughing together in the garden. Both Lotte and Torben's experience in gardening and life in general, but also those of Anette, inspired us and gave us an insight into their stories. The environment is absolutely peaceful and we can recommend going to Møn if you like to calm down and feel like living in a small fairytale. When working on the farm, we were explained our tasks very well and were always welcomed to ask questions. Overall, thank you Lotte, Torben and Anette for this wholesome experience! All the best, Pia and Klara :))

This was my first Workaway experience and it was so great. Adam, Anna and Franek are a wonderful family, they made me feel so comfortable in their home, they definitely respected personal privacy and I appreciate that. Adam and Anna are a lovely couple, they were always asking if I'm ok, if I feel comfortable with the tasks they give me, if I need some rest, and asking more about my culture and myself. They gave some life advices (thank you "uncle" Adam jajaj), and also touristic recommendations. Ana food was AMAZING, most of them really healthy and tasty, I was grateful after every meal, she's a really nice person and it was nice to be around her. Adam is a really creative guy, he offered me to try different kind of alcohol drinks, even some made by himself, so good. About the tasks, it was winter season so most of it were about help to keep the house warm, feed the goats, put the snow away from the paths, compost some stuff, tidy up and clean a little bit, and my favorite was helping Adam in his workshop, by painting or drawing, I really enjoyed that. Franek has some Spanish knowledge but he rather talk in English, such a good kid though, he is so smart. Thank you so much again for the great experience!

Valentina was a wonderful addition to our team. We were lucky to have her over the summer. She jumped in and learned technical skills and before she left, she created a how-to for future workaways! Highly recommend.

Alina stayed with us for a short period and made the most of her time here. She enjoyed exploring the area and completed two of the hikes we recommended, which was lovely to see. She also appreciated the relaxed rhythm of our home and made good use of the quieter mornings. During her stay she helped with weeding, some vacuuming, assisting with the dishwasher, and cutting back branches with loppers. She approached tasks calmly and at her own pace, and was always polite and respectful in the house. We wish her all the best for her future travels.

I spent almost 2 weeks at the village. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating from the day I arrived. If you are looking for some quiet and to experience village life this is the place. Some of the days we spent at the school with a massive class of 4 students! So it was a very relaxed atmosphere trying to help the kids with homework or come up with games for them. Helping out around the farm could be handwork if you aren't used to it. By lunch time we were finished for the day. So the days never felt so exhausting! Another volunteer got offered the opportunity to help with the handloom. If that interests you. Overall very flexible with hours worked and which activities you do every day. In my spare time we went for walks or relaxed, made our own classes to practise yoga. The food was delicious! Freshly made with local ingredients every day! You have to stop yourself from getting more! I'd love to come back again the 2 weeks went by too fast.

This workaway features relaxed working hours, great home cooking, a friendly dog and two of the loveliest, calmest, cuddliest cats you will ever have on your lap. There's an adventurous road to get here and, when you arrive, a great view down a peaceful side valley. Anıl is a lovely guy who will share everything he has with you, including his knowledge of music, film and photography. There's lots of interesting permaculture projects happening here so you are sure to find something to inspire you. Anıl taught me about caring for trees and working with wood, about sustainable living and living a less stressed, more balanced lifestyle.

Marius and Damia are really great couple! They have two amazing kids. It was a joy to spend time with Amza and Nouri. Also really nice to meet Damia's father Madal who was visiting at that time. They live in the real countryside of Romania surrounded by the nature. It is a beautiful place! Damia also makes really amazing soap, bakes fresh tasty bread and makes cute candles. I still wear the perfume she mixed for me. Marius has his own tiny woodshop and can show and tell you everything about it. We spent nice time together picking mushrooms, helping around the house, playing with kids and playing with parents table games when the kids were asleep. Damia and Marius brought us to the Town to the anual market. There are no busses so if you dont have your own car it might be difficult to get around. It is a nice place but we missed a bit a clear schedule so we could plan our time after work as we expected. I also felt that we actually didn't help that much because there wasn't an acctual line between free time and a work. But in general the whole experience was nice, we had a good time! Damia and Marius, you are great parents it is beautiful to watch the way you spend your time with the kids! You are warm and welcoming people. Thank you for all the time together and good luck with all your projects. Best wishes to the kids from Liopa (hahaha) and Joris :))

We had an amazing time with Jose and Phil. Phils Homemade meals were delicious. It felt like a holiday in nature with horses, chickens a dog and kangaroos. We had great conversations and always felt welcomed. The bedroom is big and comfortable. We will miss it a lot.🥹

We feel really grateful for this experience and wanted to share something important for future volunteers reading this. First, just to clarify: the last volunteer mentioned a swimming pool and air-conditioning, but that was a mistake. This is an eco-resort with natural wooden bungalows, fully immersed in the jungle. There’s no pool and no AC, and honestly, that’s part of what makes the place so special. You’re here for the river, the trees, the sounds of nature, and a slower rhythm of life. As for the volunteering itself, it was honestly one of the best experiences we’ve ever had, if not the best. Our mission was mainly focused on filming, photography, and video editing. From the beginning, Bodhi was incredibly organized and clear about expectations. There was a real structure, priorities were communicated, and at the same time we were trusted creatively. That balance is rare. We felt supported, not controlled. Guided, not pressured. The atmosphere made everything even better. The staff are genuinely kind, warm, and welcoming. There’s a real team spirit here. You don’t feel like “the volunteer”, you feel included. The work felt meaningful because the place itself has a strong identity and purpose. It’s not just content for the sake of content. It’s about telling the story of a place that cares about nature and about people. If you’re someone who enjoys eco-living, creativity, collaboration, and being surrounded by jungle energy, this place is something special. We leave with gratitude, beautiful memories, and the feeling that we were part of something authentic.

Irelys has been in our little family project for just few days but in spite of this, we have immediatly tuned together and she has become quickly part of our family. She is a very practical person and never complains. She autonomously sees what needs to be done and does it. We strongly recommend her in any project and we hope she'll come back soon to stay a bit more with us.
