It was very enjoyable having Zoe around - she was involved with a lot of different projects...mud bricks in the sauna, mixing and moving mud plaster and helping my daughter lay a new floor among other things . She was reliable and helpful and accepted all the challenges including learning how to light the wood stove. I appreciate all of her work - thanks Zoe.

Ferdinand is a lovely person and really helpful volunteer. He was involved with the sauna, as everyone was last autumn, and learned about laying mud bricks. He also did some regular bricklaying which required a little more precision. He was helpful with the renovations at my daughter's house too. He was given a wide variety of challenges and was happy to get involved with everything. All of the work was much appreciated.

Emily and her team were wonderful guests to host. Their teamwork and cooperation were truly amazing, and they supported each other very well throughout their stay. They were friendly, open-minded, and highly engaged with our students, creating a very positive learning and cultural exchange experience. They participated actively in birding activities, discussions, and community life, and their presence motivated and encouraged our students. We really appreciated their positive attitude, collaboration, and respect. They would be a great addition to any host, and we highly recommend them.

Fatma was an amazing volunteer and a truly kind person. She taught English with great dedication, passion, and care, and our students really enjoyed learning with her. She was positive, respectful, and always willing to share and learn, which made her a joy to have around. Beyond her work, Fatma integrated beautifully into our family and community life. Even during a difficult moment when she was injured, she remained strong, appreciative, and inspiring. We are very grateful for her contribution and her warm spirit. Fatma would be a wonderful volunteer anywhere, and she is always welcome back with us. We highly recommend Fatma.

I stayed with Sabine for a bit over 2 weeks and helped deep cleaning her beautiful house. She is a very kind and welcoming person with lots of interesting stories to tell! My stay with Deanna, Mitch and the family was a very positive Workaway experience. The work was well organised and varied, mainly involving outdoor and maintenance tasks. Communication was clear, expectations were fair, and I felt well integrated into daily life. I can totally recommend this Workaway and would be happy to return!

C'était un véritable plaisir de recevoir Joanny et Catherine. Nous avons beaucoup partagé en ces 6 semaines de leur présence et ils ont nourri la ferme de leur belle énergie et de leur générosité. Chacun a beaucoup offert à ce lieu et l'a abreuvé de soin et d'amour, comme si c'était sa propre maison. Staying with Paul, Jarien and Joni in Byron Bay was a really beautiful experience. The place is a bit more remote (about 20 minutes from Byron Bay), so having your own car is very helpful, but in return you get stunning views, lots of peace, and easy access to nearby towns and special places like Crystal Castle and Minyon Falls. I stayed for three weeks and loved the balance between volunteering and personal freedom. I helped with deep cleaning the house in the mornings (around four hours), and Paul is very relaxed and flexible, giving you space and trust rather than micromanaging. This made it easy for me to combine volunteering with remote work and still have plenty of time to relax, explore, or enjoy the pool and sauna. You have your own room with a private bathroom, the house has a very calm and open vibe, and the garden offers fresh fruits and vegetables. I also really appreciated being invited to social activities such as ecstatic dance, live music, waterfall trips, and outings to nearby towns. One special highlight was a guided psychedelic cannabis experience hosted by Paul, which was safe, intentional, and a very meaningful experience. Overall, a wonderful Workaway with lovely people, great facilities, and a lot of freedom. I’m very grateful for my time there and would highly recommend this place to others.

Francesca was an excellent Workawayer and did her best for our students. She was committed to work and was well-organized, too. She was a good friend of the host family, too. She can be entrusted with creative work.

I had an amazing two weeks stay with Lorraine and Warwick and couldn’t have asked for better hosts. They are incredibly welcoming, kind, and easy to get along with, which made me feel at home from the very beginning. The work mainly involved helping with the maintenance of the property and surroundings, and the workload was very reasonable and well balanced. Their home is well maintained, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and the meals were always delicious. I also had the chance to share this experience with other travelers, which made my stay even more enjoyable and memorable. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly, and positive throughout my time there. This Workaway experience would be a great fit for anyone looking for a meaningful experience with warm, welcoming hosts in a great environment.

Working with Marian was a delight. She is very experienced as a gardener, and socializing with her is pleasant. We strongly recommend her to other workaway hosts!

This was my very first time in Nepal, and staying at Uttam’s guest house made it truly unforgettable. From the airport, I took a local bus to Dhulikhel following Uttam’s guidance, which was already a great way to experience daily Nepali life. I stayed for 7 days, and during that time Uttam and his nephew Sahadev welcomed me like family. Both of them are not only passionate mountain trek guides but also genuinely kind and inspiring people. The guest house is located in the peaceful countryside of Dhulikhel, surrounded by nature with breathtaking views of the Himalayas. It’s the perfect base for exploring, whether you want short walks or longer hikes, everything is close by. The city center is also within walking distance, so you can easily balance nature and local culture. During my stay, I joined a couple of other volunteers in helping out with cooking, cleaning, and small tasks to improve the place. We shared many memorable moments together hiking to nearby villages, enjoying authentic Nepali meals (including delicious homemade dal bhat), and having long conversations over breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The accommodation was comfortable, and the atmosphere always felt warm and welcoming. What makes this place extra special is that Uttam and Sahadev are experienced mountain guides. They can help you plan treks across Nepal, which is incredibly valuable if you’re looking to explore the Himalayas. Overall, my experience here was wonderful, and I would highly recommend Uttam’s guest house to anyone who wants to immerse themselves in Nepali culture, nature, and hospitality. I’m grateful for the time I spent here and look forward to meeting Uttam and Sahadev again, whether in Nepal or somewhere else in the world!

I came for 2 weeks… and stayed almost 3 months ! I can only recommend Carol’s place. I was really happy to contribute to her project, and learned a lot about how using new tools for renovating. I enjoyed working in the beautiful garden, doing mud plaster, painting, and all the different tasks. Carol is patient, happy to share her knowledge and fexible about the schedule. She is also an amazing cook, I felt spoiled ! The appartment where I stayed is absolutely lovely and has an independant entrance. And the surroundings of Cherven are really beautiful and unique. I had the chance to do several walks around and really loved it. I already miss the place, the tribe of cats and Mango, the happy dog !

I had a fantastic week staying with Graeme & Debbie! I really enjoyed getting stuck in with the gardening and Graeme taught me so much about permacultures and food forests. They are a hardworking family with a passion for the garden trail and the workshop events they host which you can read more about on their website: Northland Edible Garden Trail. I felt very appreciated, and also had a lot of free time to enjoy walks nearby. Thank you for welcoming me into your home, I have a newfound appreciation of gardening and fresh food!

It is a comfortably quiet space with nice people and options for movie night and braai. I think that the people there are really cool human beings that make a good and chilled work Atmosphere. It is close to the beach and has a really nice view from the Terrace. I could have my quiet morningcoffee with my book a chilled work time and a nice socializing in the evenings with Staff and guests when you feel like it. I enjoyed my stay a lot because I think cool people is really important for volunteering. Thank you people and hope to visit you again one day.
