Description
This is a family run project Community Centre on the island of Grenada. We help provide the youth with the foundations for their future.
We run many activities all year round and would love some extra help to keep these possible. We offer an after school program during term times, holiday camps when school is out, santas grotto in December and so much more!
We currently employ 5 local staff who help us with various roles such as: administration, gardening and child care. We have the space for up to 12 volunteers to join us and have so much going on for everyone to get involved with.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Every day there is something going on in Grenada, from Latin nights at the Brewery where they brew their own beer, to win a goat at Bingo down at Prickly Bay Marina. There’s also steel pan bands, parades, live concerts, school sports days, cray fishing in the local river and having a good old BBQ at the volunteer house.
Theres something for everyone on this small but beautifully bustling island. We hope that by having groups from all over the world we can do our bit to help bring people together who never would have otherwise met whilst they help us put some big smiles on some little faces and bright the kids futures just that little bit more.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.

Help
The type of help needed depends largely on the time of year you join us, as our programmes and projects vary seasonally. Throughout the year, volunteers may support children’s educational and recreational programmes such as our After-School Club, Easter Camp or Summer Camp, helping with childcare, reading, homework support, arts, crafts, sports, swimming, music, dance and general activity assistance.
Outside of children’s programmes, volunteers may also help with gardening, farming, grounds maintenance, painting, cleaning, community outreach, fundraising events, administrative support, social media content, cooking assistance and general project development.
This is a dynamic, hands-on experience where no two days are exactly the same. We value volunteers who are adaptable, proactive, creative and willing to contribute wherever support is most needed.

Accommodation
We rent a house in the village of Woburn in St George's. It is a small fishing village located on the southern coast of Grenada. It is known for its picturesque harbour, cliff views, rocky islets, a lagoon and beautiful small beach areas. The house is located minutes from The Cove Marina which shows views of both Hog and Calivigy Island.
There is a washing machine for volunteers to use, along with a washing line on the veranda/balcony. All volunteers adhere to the schedules for cooking and cleaning as we strive to create a family vibe whereby eveyone pitches in to keep the house clean and tidy and everyone is fed a cooked evening meal. This also creates a social vibe whereby volunteers can play card games, board game, indulge in our donation library (often volunteers leave behind any books they have finished reading) but also the property has a lot of outside space allowing for any solo time to relax and unwind.
Groceries are delived once a week, any treats you require on top of this will be up to you to get for yourselves. Catching a bus is very easy in Grenada and there are supermarkets 15 mins from Woburn, there is also a smaller shop located 5 mins drive from the volunteer house.
What else ...
There is so much to do on your days off. Closest adventure would be to visit Hog Island - it is most active on the sunday after pay day and there are water taxis available just down the road from our volunteer house at $20EC per person (round trip).
Other places to visit would include:
Rum factories, Chocolate factories, River Tubing, Underwater Sculpture Park, Waterfalls, Grenada Hash hiking on Saturdays (over 150 people attend these weekly so great way to make friends), ATV adventures, Grand Etang rainforest and lake (where the famous Mona Monkeys live), Clear Kayaking, Fort Frederick, Welcome Rock, Mount Qua Qua, Levara Beach (This is where the Sea Turtles come to lay their eggs).
