    Description

We are a little family of three, Jenny 46, Jon 47 and Sienna 4 1/2, one dog, two cats and chickens. We have lived in this area of Portugal for ten years and after completing our first project and selling it we have moved on to our second. We fell in love with the area after immersing ourselves in to the culture and decided to stay and make it our home.

2023 is a big project for us, building the extension on our tiny house, finally :) As well as keeping up with the farm, vegetables and landscaping, and maybe building the pool if we have time.

We are a relaxed family but love to challenge ourselves. We would love to have some help in doing so and meet some friendly, like minded people who will support us along the way and share experiences.

Our farm is in Povoa da Sao Cosme, a tiny village on the outskirts of a larger village Ervedal da Beira. We are walking distance to the local taberna and small shop in Povoa. Ervedal being 2km away is walking or gentle bike ride distance with lively cafes, shop, chemist, doctors, cash point and bakers.

Our farm has amazing views over the valley with stunning sunsets. Flat fertile land ready to be transformed and easy access for cars and camper vans. Camper vans also very welcome. Walking distance down to the Mondego river for fishing and swimming, a hike back up.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

The area here is a cultural experience in itself. It’s very agricultural and authentically old style Portuguese. The local people are incredibly friendly and appreciate you attempting to speak the language. The area is beautiful, surrounded by three mountain ranges and stunning rivers.
On our farm you will learn lots of skills supporting Jon building it up from scratch, he’s a jack of all trades but predominantly his passion is wood.
We will happily tell you about our experiences here on our journey, we are a social family and no doubt you will meet Portuguese and foreign like minded people.

We love to visit the local village and chat to the locals, and go for walks. And in our free time immerse ourselves in to our daughter, playing, walking and exploring. There are walking signs about for paths to be followed. We have two bikes that can be used to explore the area, local villages or rivers.
