Description
Hi There!
We are an international couple ( Faroese and Dutch) living in a 350 year old farmhouse.
Our place is a protected site and we are very happy to live in it. In the past the place was an Inn where the cattle drivers could take a rest in their journey from Germany to the north of Denmark. The house still has some charming elements of those days.
The house comes with 8,5 Hectare ( 85.000) m2 of land. Here we have recently started to build on our self proficiency journey. We currently have a small herd of sheep ( with some little lambs) and some bee-hives, but we are looking to expand our animals. Next to that we would like to make the kitchen garden operational and work more according to permaculture and food forest principles. This is a private hobby farm and we are not selling our produce to the public. And this is where we could use some help, cause frankly all the ( big and little) projects are a bit too much for just two people :D .
Our farm is located slightly outside the city of Esbjerg, so it would be easiest to have a car available to you. However, we will have bikes available as well, so you can get around ( 40 mins to city centre). In the area there are nice sites to visit like Ribe ( 40 mins by car) and Legoland and Lego house in Billund ( 40 mins the other way). Or you can go fishing in the local fishing lake at a 15 mins walk. There are loads of other things to do in the vicinity, and we will be happy to point you towards them!
We are looking forward to host you and work together on making the place resemble its past glory.Types of help and learning opportunities

Being internationals living in a different country then our own, we recognise the need to connect with others. We are open to learn about other cultures and share our own. We would be happy to host your workshops at our place where we will have a group of internationals ( and Danes) attending.
One of us loves to play games ( and the other doesn't) , so a games night is definitely an option. Furthermore we would love to know about your cultures food and see how we can incorporate that into or own diet.
We prefer to have dinner together at least once a week, and are open to connect at other times as well.Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
There will be a list of projects that you can choose from, so there will always be something for you to do. There are projects , garden work ( trimming the hedges, clearing out the forrest, cutting down trees ), creating a chicken coop, or goose habitat) , painting, and little projects around the house. We both have regular jobs , so you will have to be able to work by yourself during the day times. We expect you to help for about 5 hours a day and you will be off 2 days a week. We prefer to have a stay of at least a week, the total duration will be according to mutual agreement. ( also depending on the dates)
As a volunteer you would not be staying at the same time as paying guests of the BNB or that if you are staying at the same time as guests you will not be asked to do any tasks related to the business.Languages spoken

Due to the nature of the work we like to host a "group", or a couple that can work well together. We will provide you with food and drinks, and we can discuss how often we will have dinner together.
You will be staying in a separate part of the house that also sometimes functions as a BNB. As such it is fully equipped for your stay , with a (little) kitchen and you own private bathroom. There are 6 sleeping places in 3 bedrooms in the BNB, 2 kings and one bunk bed.
In consultation you with, we will provide the groceries you might need to cook your meals ( 3 meals a day). We can offer vegetarian options, vegan options are a bit more difficult, but we can try!
We prefer to have a common meal once a week. Depending on the timing, it might be more often.
All other occasions, depending on your means of transport, we will either provide you with a stipend or ingredients to cook for yourself
The BnB is open to you when there are no people renting it, so you will be able to have the privacy you need.A little more information
