Description
Hello everyone,
If you are looking for a tranquil countryside place in the south of Portugal at 11 km from the coast overlooking the mountains and the sea, this could be for you.
If you enjoy working outdoors, this could be for you.
If you enjoy mediterranean cuisine and fresh vegetables and vegetarian or optional vegan cooking from the garden, this could be for you.
My name is Annette, I’m a ceramic artist in my sixties. Together with a friend, I live in a country house in a tiny hamlet, surrounded by 2 hectares of land with a vegetable garden, a ceramic studio, and a water tank that we use as a refreshing pool. On the land, there is also a smaller house, currently empty, that needs some love and attention.
A few years ago, this place was home to a big permaculture project and an open house for many visitors and travelers. Sadly, a fire destroyed much of it. After many years in which this property was neglected, I moved back here earlier this year and would love to bring back some of the lively, creative spirit that once filled this home. I used to travel a lot myself, and now I love the idea of experiencing the world through the people I welcome.
I’m looking for volunteers to help me with landscaping and restoring the property. The smaller house needs fresh paint, cleaning, and some minor repairs before I can rent it out again. I’m looking for motivated volunteers who want to contribute, enjoy the countryside, and share the simple pleasures of this beautiful place.Types of help and learning opportunities

I have lived in the Algarve for more than 40 years, so I know a lot about Portuguese culture and traditions. I’m happy to share some local history and culture with you, show you beautiful and interesting sites, or help you with your Portuguese. I can also give you some insights into traditional handicrafts and share my knowledge about mediterranean plants and permaculture.
For those who enjoy reading, there’s also a small library in different languages where you can relax and dive into a good book.Help
I mainly need help with restoring the property like painting and repairing the small house, building small walls, collecting fire wood and other landscaping and handicraft tasks.
There is always plenty to do, but you will have the freedom to choose your working hours and you can often decide which projects you’d like to focus on. I really appreciate it if you bring in your own ideas and creativity for the place.Languages

You will live in a comfortable private room equipped with bedding, towels, shelves, a desk with a big window overlooking the hills. I can host up to 2 people, friends or a couple.
Food will be provided with regularly cooked mediterranean meals. I cook vegetarian, but vegan food can be provided too and you are welcome to prepare your own food for special needs. What else ...
This is a rather secluded place so it is best if you have your own car/transport to be able to go to the beach or supermarket. We can give you a lift to town at least once a week.
The next trainstation is close to "Cacela" at about 10 km distance.
I‘d prefer to host non-smokers.
If this place speaks to you, I’d love to hear from you and welcome you here!A little more information
