Hello there. Brenna and Wouter here.
We are a Dutch/American couple that runs a hostel in the beautiful UNESCO-listed town of Gjirokastra, Albania. Our story might sound strange, but we each fell deeply in love with this magical place and so have decided to lay roots here. Aging ottoman houses climb slowly up the mountain, with a persistence that has endured over 300 years. Stunning and sometimes beautifully dilapidated architecture is engulfed by the most staggering nature. Cobbled streets are filled with warm, helpful, and open hearted people. If you have interest in calling this place home for a month, we would be happy to welcome you to our team.
We are looking for highly motivated, and independent volunteers to help with reception work, some cleaning, and events. While training will be thorough, the job requires initiative takers who pay attention to detail. Likewise, we want all of our team to feel empowered enough to make suggestions for and to lead day to day activities. This position is a highly social one and we love fresh ideas to keep the Hostel a lively, original, and welcoming place. You will most likely feel most comfortable here if you identify as a nature and culture lover. While there is no shortage of hikes to take, buildings to inspect, and history to research, the night life is extremely limited (full disclosure). If you feel like our place is the right fit for you then we would love to have you. To show our thanks we promise you a comfy bed, a hot breakfast, and ingredients for you to use to cook lunch and dinner for yourself. Oh and fun. We promise you fun.
Hope to see you soon!

Helping with Tourists
We will provide you with a comfortable bed, food, drinks and lots of new friends. Volunteering with us will give you a great opportunity to enjoy the beautiful region and its people. You will get hands-on experience with guiding, some maintenance and reception, but you will mainly improve your social skills. The staff is a nice mix of locals and foreigners and would be a great place if you are open minded, honest, curious and interested in both nature and culture.
The help includes reception tasks, interacting with guests, some cleaning and helping out with trips in the city and the region.
