Insight into the Cevenol history, it's architecture and culture, teaching will be provided on stone wall building
Volunteers will benefit from language exchange with English and French spoken participants and we like to have between 4 and 6 participants at one time.
Volunteers will gain insight into traditions of dry stone wall building and historic building restoration, but also a contemporary dialogue around architecture and its integration into historic fabric. We are renovating buildings and landscape first inhabited in the 16 century amongst which numerous building date back earlier. We are practising architects from London and teachers of architecture in a number of European schools of architecture. Much of our discussion centres around how to restore and respect buildings from this period, working with traditional materials and techniques whilst at the same time seeking contemporary requirements and expectations for their inhabitation today.
Breakfast and lunch is served at set times, whilst dinner usually consist of volunteer participation in terms ideas. Local Cevennol cuisine is often complemented by recipe variations of individual participants and our cook buys food fresh on a daily basis.
Vegan and vegetarians dishes are often integrated into the meals of the day.Help
