My wife and I run three all Girls schools (K-12) in Gorakhpur, situated in the Northern part of India. The medium of instruction is English. I am an Engineer who worked and lived in the US for ten years before moving back to my hometown to start these schools. We are quite passionate about educating the girl child, which needs a lot of work in this part of the world. The girls need empowerment not just in studies but also in their self-confidence and in their ability to believe in themselves. We welcome you to teach few words /songs of your native language.

Travelers will get a first hand insight into living in a non-tourist, real city and explore real India together with how children study. Teachers are respected quite a lot in India. You will also appreciate that teaching extends beyond the classroom. Your travel stories and sense of adventurism can expand the vision and horizon of a girl child and fill you with a strong sense of achievement.
Projects involving children
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
Help
1. It is a Volunteer Teaching job in an all Girls' School. The format of teaching is such that even Travellers without any formal Teaching experience can do it. Of course, a Teacher with prior teaching experience will do it better.
2. We are looking for Travellers/ Teachers who can inform the students about their own country and the other places they have travelled to. We aim to increase the awareness amongst our students about this wonderful world, directly through you.
3. We welcome Travellers/ Teachers to teach few words /songs of your native language to the students. We need Travellers/ Teachers who can create a sense of exploration and adventure among the girls of our School (its an all girls school).
4. The medium of teaching in the schools is English, but even if a volunteer's proficiency is little less in the language, you can still teach, with your energy and enthusiasm.
5. We also provide a Stipend of 32,000 Indian Rupees/ 400USD Per month (or 8,000 Indian Rupees per week) as appreciation of the work put in by Travellers/ Teachers.Languages

We provide free lodging, food and laundry. There is a separate bed room (fairly big size) and separate restroom. There is free Wi- Fi. Food is mostly Indian but travelers are welcome to cook their own if they wish. We can provide a separate kitchen and groceries if they feel like. We can make some mashed potatoes, spaghetti or fix a sandwich (We think we are excellent Youtube chefs!). Gorakhpur has a number of pizza places (Dominos, Pizza Hut, KFC, Burger King etc) and coffee shops.
What else ...
There are a number of places which can be visited from Gorakhpur. Agra (of Taj Mahal fame) and New Delhi (the Capital of India) are quite accessible. Varanasi (a very famous spiritual center) is quite close. Near Gorakhpur, there are a lot of places of interest related to Buddhism. Buddha was born in a city pretty close by (Lumbini) and died also near Gorakhpur at Kushinagar.
