Description
Hellooooo !!!
We are a family of 4 ( 2 adults and 2 kids aged 6 and 47 ) living in Amarante, North Portugal. We live within a beautiful 3ha piece of land full of water and native trees and our lovely animals.
We also welcomed a friend to live with his container (tiny house) on our land.
Your sure to meet international people during your stay as we come from England and Belgium, our friends from Mexico and we have a growing local expat community. We are very integrated in the local community as-well so you are sure to experience some Portuguese culture.
We are located 5km from the historical city of Amarante, one hour from Porto and still, you can feel peace and quiet on the farm.
We are in the process of setting up and education project for children and families. Which includes construction of a light straw classroom (cob and lime plastering, carpentry etc) developing permaculture gardens and agro forest, land maintenance, art installations and infographics.
2025 plans include
- Planning a playground build
- Building a greenhouse and dehydrator
- Upgrading the dry toilets system
- Installing a warm shower
Everything we do, we try to make it as ecological as possible, so you'll be able to learn natural building, natural farming, and project development.
We are part of a web of nice people creating similar projects around us, what we call our little community. We often organise nice events where you'll be able to meet other people.
Every experience we have with volunteers is unique and we really enjoy having different people around who want to share their unique talents with us, so please bring your truth and lets share in co creation 🙏☺️Types of help and learning opportunities

We are international people, speaking different languages as well as fluent Portuguese.
As "Ex travelers", we know how it is to be volunteers and so we like to make it a great experience for everyone who joins us.
All of us have different skills including gardening, childcare, natural building, ,...Help
Our daily tasks that need to be fulfilled change during the year, we usually focus on projects and set some objectives which we can share with you when you request to stay. We try to be available when accepting to host as the exchange is nice for us both, although some time if there are last minute requests we can still accept, but there maybe solo work projects. We can discuss this once a request has been made.
We are currently building an education space (Forest School) for kids at the top of the land where you could get involved in developing the space. The classroom and agro forest are the main focus at the moment. Which include alot of woodwork and cob building, building raised beds and moving earth and mulch.
If you want to learn about outdoor, alternative education, permaculture and agroforestry, water management or composting you re also in a good place.
We have 2 very curious and active children who love to meet new people and share their wordly knowledge. It's probable that you will spend some time with them whilst your with us, so I hope you like kids 🙃 Families are especially welcome to stay, the education space aims to offer extra activities for homeschooled children and so generating more activities there and getting families involved is really the goal.Languages spoken
