Description
Welcome to the heart of rural Rajasthan.
Nestled in the peaceful village of Samrau, our family-run farm is a place where traditional wisdom meets a vision for a sustainable future. We are building a self-sufficient ecosystem based on goat farming, organic agriculture, natural living, and community-driven growth.
This is more than just a farm stay or volunteer experience. It is an opportunity to become part of a meaningful journey. Help care for animals, grow food naturally, learn traditional farming practices, and contribute to creating a model of rural sustainability from the ground up.
Experience authentic village life, connect with nature, share stories around the farm, and discover the rich culture, hospitality, and simplicity that make Rajasthan unique. Whether you're passionate about regenerative farming, sustainable living, or cultural exchange, you'll find a place to learn, contribute, and grow.
We may be at the beginning of our journey, but our vision is ambitious: to create a thriving farm community that inspires a healthier, more connected way of living.
Join us in building something lasting.
Come for the experience. Stay for the connection. Leave with memories, friendships, and a piece of Rajasthan in your heart. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
At my farm, you will experience real village life. You can learn about goat farming, organic agriculture, and traditional rural living. I would also love to learn from your experiences. While staying here, you can enjoy Rajasthani culture, folk music, and local food.

Help
As a volunteer, you will help with:
✅ Goat farming – Feeding, cleaning, and caring for goats
✅ Tree planting & gardening – Helping in planting and maintaining trees, crops, and vegetables
✅ Fish farming – Assisting in setting up and maintaining the fish farm (from March)
✅ Building & maintenance – Light construction work like fencing, shed making, and general repairs
✅ General farm tasks – Watering plants, composting, and other daily activities
Workawayers will be expected to help for a maximum of 4 hours per day, 5 days a week, ensuring they have 2 days off to explore the local area and experience the culture.
Additionally, we do provide meals to our volunteers, maintaining a fair exchange of work and hospitality. We strive to create a balanced and enriching experience for all Workawayers who join us on the farm. -
Languages
Languages spoken
English: Fluent
Hindi: FluentThis host offers a language exchange
Language exchange is an enriching part of the cultural experience in rural Jodhpur. While Hindi and English are commonly spoken, the primary language in many rural areas is Marwari, a local Rajasthani dialect. Volunteers have the opportunity to learn basic phrases and expressions in Marwari, which will enhance their connection with the community and deepen their understanding of local culture. Engaging with local villagers in their native language opens doors to more meaningful interactions and provides a richer experience. You might pick up greetings like "Kem cho?" (How are you?), or "Ram Ram Sa" (a traditional greeting), and understand the nuances of local storytelling, proverbs, and customs. For those with a keen interest in languages, it's a great chance to practice conversational skills with people who speak Marwari as their first language. This exchange also benefits the locals, as they might be eager to learn more about other languages or improve their English, creating a dynamic and mutual learning environment. -
Accommodation
At our eco-farm in rural Jodhpur, Rajasthan, we offer simple, comfortable, and sustainable accommodation that reflects the traditional rural lifestyle, blending with nature. The living space is designed to provide a peaceful retreat, where you can unwind and experience the essence of rural Rajasthan.
Stay in eco-friendly, mud-built homes that keep the interiors cool in the heat of the desert and warm during cooler nights. These houses are constructed using local materials, in harmony with the environment, to maintain a low carbon footprint.
Accommodation is available in both private and shared rooms, depending on your preference and the availability. Rooms are basic but comfortable, equipped with simple bedding, a fan for warmth, and natural ventilation.
The farm includes outdoor spaces where you can relax under the shade of trees, enjoy the desert sunset, and connect with nature. You’ll experience the serenity of rural life, far from city noise, with starlit skies and peaceful surroundings.
Bathrooms are shared and equipped with traditional amenities. Water is a precious resource here, and we emphasize the use of sustainable practices, including water conservation methods.
The accommodation is designed to foster a sense of community. You’ll have the chance to interact with fellow volunteers and locals, participate in farm activities, and enjoy communal meals prepared with fresh, homegrown ingredients.
The accommodation offers a comfortable, rustic experience where you can truly disconnect from urban life and reconnect with nature, in a community dedicated to sustainable living. -
What else ...
Volunteers typically work around 4 hours per day, 5days a week, with flexibility depending on the season and tasks. Your work will involve a variety of tasks, including farming, animal care, building projects, and sustainability initiatives. You'll have regular breaks and days off to rest, explore, or connect with the local community.
This is more than just a farm stay—it's a chance to immerse yourself in the local culture. Beyond daily tasks, you may be invited to participate in local festivals, family gatherings, or community celebrations. It's a great way to learn about Rajasthani traditions, music, dance, and crafts while building meaningful connections with the locals.
While basic English is spoken, many locals primarily speak Marwari and Hindi. This is a wonderful opportunity for you to learn some basic phrases in Marwari, enhancing your cultural experience and helping you connect more deeply with the community.
All meals will be provided and are made with fresh, organic ingredients from the farm. Traditional Rajasthani vegetarian dishes like dal baati, gatte ki sabzi, and chapati are common, with occasional sweets like ghevar and mawa kachori. We cater to basic dietary preferences, but please let us know about any specific food restrictions or allergies in advance.
We prioritise safety on the farm, with well-maintained tools and equipment. However, due to the rural setting, please be aware of the potential challenges that come with living in a desert region, such as extreme temperatures and limited healthcare facilities. It’s important to stay hydrated, wear sun protection, and take necessary precautions when working outside.
Jodhpur is easily accessible by train, bus, and air from major cities in India. Once you arrive in Jodhpur, we will assist you with transport to the farm. For any long-distance travel during your stay, we can help arrange the best options.
On your days off, you can explore nearby attractions like the majestic Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, or visit local markets to shop for handicrafts and souvenirs. The surrounding desert landscape is perfect for hiking, stargazing, or taking a camel ride.
This is a chance to not only work on a farm but to be part of a larger movement toward sustainability and community-driven projects. You’ll collaborate with other volunteers, locals, and me to create a space that values eco-conscious living and environmental stewardship. Your time here will offer valuable hands-on experience in sustainability, farming, and rural development.
We look forward to welcoming you to our eco-farm, where your contribution will make a meaningful impact while you learn, grow, and experience the beauty of rural Rajasthan. -
