Description
We are a family with three children (10, 13 and 15 years old) living in Borredà, a small town in the pre-pyrenees. We were building our own straw-house during two years and three months. Now we live in the house, and only some details are missing inside.
The house is made of wood-structure and straw as a walls. All is plastered with mud (clay, sand, straw and lime). We used sustainable materials as much as we can. The electricity comes from solar panels, and the days without sun the stove heat us with wood.
Now, we are working mostly in the outside (gardening, planting trees, setting water storage...) or building furniture. We bought some land next to our home and we're executing on a permacultural design and a natural pond with its own water cleaning system.
We are also interested in language and culture exchange for us and for our children.
We are bilingual, so we speak Catalan and Spanish native, and we also speak English
We have a very friendly cat, and lovely hens.Types of help and learning opportunities

children! They are a welcoming, friendly and fun family and made us feel
at home.
There was always a good atmosphere in the house since they are
an active and open family. Thanks to them we had the opportunity to try
out catalonian dishes and see the carneval in a city nearby.

It was very enriching with Neus and Sergi. Our first workaway stay was the best possible we could have had. We learned a lot of things, not just by working, but overall their openminded attitude towards lifestyle, parenting and stuff. The help was enjoyable, mostly handwork… read more
