    Description

We’re opening our farm to a few kind, responsible people, couples, friends or families who would like to join us for the Autumn/Winter season.

This time, we’re especially interested in people who would like to stay for a longer period. We’re also open to discussing a reduced-hours arrangement for the right people — for example, if you work remotely, are looking for land or a place to settle, or simply want some time and space to work on your own projects alongside helping us.

Our days are a mixture of family life, land care and rebuilding our little off-grid farm. Help might include:

    • Clearing and tasks with the land
    • Planting and gardening
    • Creative DIY tasks
    • Rebuilding small structures damaged by storms and the 2025 fires
    • General farm tasks and animal care
    • Tidying and household tasks
    • Meal preparation
    • Occasionally playing with our children, who are now 4, 8 and 11

There’s plenty to get stuck into, and the tasks change with the seasons and the weather.

We’re a Dutch-English family of five. Five years ago, we bought a small 1-hectare farm with a ruin, with the dream of slowly transforming it into a harmonious, eco-conscious place for growing, living, raising free kidsand simply enjoying life. In August 2025, our land was affected by the forest fires, so we’re now also lovingly restoring and regenerating areas that were damaged. We’ve realised along the way that raising three children, farming, rebuilding and creating our tiny home is a LOT — and we genuinely appreciate having good people around to help.

Ideally, we’re looking for couples or friends, although individuals are very welcome if you’re comfortable having your own space and spending some time independently.

    You should be:

    • Responsible and able to help independently
    • Happy with physical outdoor tasks
    • Hands-on and willing to learn
    • Positive, practical and motivated
    • Comfortable living simply and being close to nature
    • Someone who genuinely enjoys contributing to a family project

We’re not looking for people wanting a cheap holiday. We’re looking for people who genuinely want to be part of something, contribute, learn, and enjoy a slower, more hands-on way of life. At the same time, we’re a busy family with work, homeschooling and our own projects, so we’re not able to entertain volunteers all day. We love getting to know the people who stay with us, but you also need to be happy having your own time and space.

If this sounds like something you’d enjoy, send us a message and tell us a little about yourself, what you’re looking for and how long you’d ideally like to stay.

We’d love to hear from you.
    Manon, Rich & family

We live in a beautiful place, in nature with stunning sunsets. Next to this we also have swimming, beautiful walks as well as the local villages (walking distance) right on our doorstep it's a beautiful place to dive into Portuguese life.

We love sharing skills, learning from others and meeting people from different backgrounds. And we love food, cooking together and our pizza oven. So although we’re busy, we enjoy sharing meals, stories and ideas when we can.

We love community and learning from others. We love to share our permaculture/ gardening, natural building & general knowledge of living in harmony with nature. As an active family you are always welcome to join with our Yoga, Running or Walking activities. We’re surrounded by mountains and live close to a beautiful river, with lots of opportunities for wild swimming — even in winter, if you’re brave!

If you are interested in living in harmony with nature, being outside and learning new skills then you will enjoy your time with us. We need help with anything outdoors, gardening, planting, looking after the land. If that's for you then please be in touch.

The usual exchange is 4–5 hours a day, 5 days a week. It can also be less.

However, for people wanting to stay longer, we’re happy to discuss a different arrangement with fewer hours if you have remote work, are looking for land, or have your own project you’d like time for. We do want that whoever helps us is willing to learn and motivated.
