Description
I am originally from Switzerland and have been living in eastern Finland since 2023, where I am building up a small farm and permaculture project.
I worked as an electrician and farmer in Switzerland and decided to change my life to live closer to nature and more sustainably.
The farm is located on a quiet peninsula surrounded by forest and lakes. I am growing vegetables, developing a forest garden, and working towards a more self-sufficient lifestyle.
On the farm, I keep ducks, rabbits, sheep, and goats. There are also two small traditional Finnish cabins (“Mökkis”).
I am looking for motivated and open-minded people who enjoy hands-on work and are interested in Permaculture. Tasks include gardening, small building projects, woodwork, and general help around the farm and the animals.
Especially n July is a lot of haywork that needs to be done.
This project was originally started by Maika and myself. Since then, things have changed, and I am now continuing the project on my own.

Help
There is always something to do and a lot to learn on the farm. As I am passionate about permaculture and convinced of this way of life, I would love to introduce you to it and share more about this philosophy. Maybe you will even feel inspired by it.
In summer, I might make hay following traditional Finnish methods, which I would be happy to teach you. From time to time, there are also various hands-on and craft tasks. If you are interested in developing your practical skills, I am glad to support you.
I also really value the knowledge and skills that Workawayers bring and enjoy learning from you as well.
The animals are always happy about some care and attention and will definitely be part of your experience.
For the meal I try to use the vegetable and harvest from the garden.

I find languages very exciting and am always open to gaining insight into a new language. I am currently learning Finnish, so if you are proficient in the Finnish language, I would greatly appreciate your support.
Accommodation
There is one room for workawayers with a shared bathroom. If you are traveling with a camper, you are welcome to bring it and use our shared shower and toilet.

What else ...
I can pick you up at the train station in Nurmes.
Please note that I do not offer airport pick-ups. The nearest airport with a daily bus connection is Kajaani. Also, please be aware that public transportation is very limited in this region.
On your days off, you can enjoy the lake, go for a walk in the forest, have a sauna, or simply relax and enjoy nature.
