    Description

I live in a woodland garden by the sea in West Cork, Ireland. I am an artist working with sculpture and since moving to my present home I have been enchanted by the plant species in this beautiful environment. I am spending lots of time working with trees, shrubs and grounds doing maintenance as the woodland requires but also I find it a pure joy to just be in the woods bordered by the sea.

Here, work can be challenging and enjoyable, a source of physical fitness as well as gentle skills requiring sensitivity towards every aspect of the environment. I personally enjoy a sense of merging with this environment and socially sharing perceptions that arise from the activity.

I am currently learning how to identify a myriad species with whom I share my home. And this might interest aspiring arboriculturists, botanists and horticulturists, as well as those who might just enjoy being here. My experience as an artist has shaped a philosophical approach to people of all ages and origins. It would be a great pleasure to share this environment with those who find it appealing, even special.

There are a couple of spaces available here making up to two people at the most or more usually one or two. Quality organic food is available locally along with excellent cafés and restaurants. At the moment we are offering a Workawayer experience for those who wish to help out in the woods. From there you can look out over Bantry Bay from the vantage point of the woodland.

Accommodation is in an annex adjacent to our house. In true Workawayer style everything will be shared together when there is a wish to do so. Each person will have their own room or couples will share a room.

These small communities are often familiar to each other and diverse in their attitudes. The way of life here is worth knowing for its friendliness, warmth and consideration for one another. Something to experience while learning about our differences.
