    Description

Looking for a group, couple or family to help turn a raw 40 acres into a remote off grid Zen-type home/retreat. The property is only a half mile from neighbors, 4 miles from a pub/restaurant, and 8 miles to a small town. I’d like at least a month, but would prefer even longer.

This is a grass roots project. Starting from scratch with a blank canvas of 40 acres. The goal is to create a fully green and sustainable place for many.

The property encompasses 40 acres with an abundance of wildlife in a beautiful area of Pennsylvania. It has a small creek that cut a deep gorge, with some steep sloping terrain to the sides, and an amazing plateau in which you can see miles and miles away at night (once the overgrown trees get removed). The land is about an hour from Scranton, and three hours from both Philly and NYC.

The help I need includes everything from setting solar power, making cob for a rocket mass heater, constructing a cabin from trees on the property, rain water collection, to setting up care, shelter and a perimeter for chickens and goats. Not really looking for intense fast pace labor, just hoping for some steady improvement over time.

A camper with a compost potty and solar shower is provided for you initially (and a generator), until improvements and upgrades can be realized. Food and supplies will be delivered once a week to the property. Transportation includes two bicycles that will be provided, unless you have your own vehicle.

The ultimate goal of this property is to have a self-sustaining place for all to disconnect from the grid, and potentially connect in more universal ways.

There isn’t much culture in the woods of PA, but ravelers will experience true off the grid living.

    Help

I’d like to start with the big projects first, setting up the solar panels, putting fencing around the camp compound, clearing fields, removing overgrown trees, creating a home and caring for new chickens and goats.

Also, would love to see an original creation of your art as part of the property.
