    Description

My wife and I live on 16 acres just outside of Okotoks AB with our two children. We built a house and started the Farm 4 years ago. Since, we have added 5 pigs, 2 horses, 15 chickens and 4 cows. We have started a Haskap orchard that currently has 3000 plants. I am looking for a workaway who is interested for a placement of up to two weeks. More time can be discussed if needed.

Accommodation is our spare room in our house with a bathroom next to it. We provide all meals, though extra snacks may have to be purchased on your own. Our diet (especially during summer) consists very heavily of food produced on our farm including grass fed beef, Pork and eggs. Bedding, towels, and homemade soap is provided as well. We will share a kitchen, washer and dryer. There is a separate living area (couches, TV, dining area) in the loft you are free to use.

Both my wife and I work and are away from home for a large part of the day, so volunteers should be comfortable on their own. We are always back for dinner which I am generally happy to make for everyone here.

We are very outgoing people and love hiking, camping and boating on weekends. We often travel to our property on the Arrow Lakes in BC to spend weekends. We are always open to taking people to experience new things.

You will always get two days a week off. Sunday’s you will always have off, as well as another day of the week that may change based on what needs to be done. Calgary is a 15 min drive and Okotoks is 10. Both have endless opportunities for enjoyment. We are about 45 mins from the mountains and often head out that way to go trail riding or hiking.
