    Description

My goal is to create a space where people can come stay, for longer periods of time. Have a place to train, eat, sleep, learn, grow, to be able to work on them self and reconnect. While still contributing to the land and environment around us.

name is Maitland and i am 31 years old from the Sunshine Coast. i have been travelling a lot around the world and Australia for the past 11 years, most of my time in my early 20’s was spent in Latin America , learning Spanish and Portuguese, with focus on spending time with the locals and getting to know the culture. In the past 7 years i have spent many years training yoga, meditation, tai qi and qi gong in Asia. I have trained with Shaloin monks, and spent much time meditating in Buddhist temples, also training in traditional kundalini and tantra yoga in the Himalayas in northern India. With my feet firmly rooted on the ground. my parents and i have been learning and practising sustainable organic farming for the past 15 + years.

In my travels i have done maybe 20 or more Workaways, and they have always have been highlights and the most beneficial parts of travel. When i am not travelling, i am here working on the family farm. My parents and I like to learn new things from people from around the globe, as well as share what we have to offer.
We are an almost self sufficient organic farm in the Sunshine Coast hinterland (1hour from Sunshinecoast beaches). where most times 90% or more of our food comes fresh from the land with a great diversity of different foods, we ferment, culture and cure food, and really practice the full circle of holistic health. With my main focus is from the soil health, to the plate of food we eat. in 2019 my parents decided to retire and we downsized the family business, and now focus more on regeneration agriculture, permaculture and living in a sustainable way with an emphasis on amazing food!!

At the moment on the farm there is a few very well established gardens and orchards, and many trees to still be planted. i have built a sauna which we use almost daily, nestle alongside a beautiful Crystal clear creek. most Sundays we have a day of family and friends, fire up the cob wood fired pizza oven with fresh dough and have a day of amazing food and company!

We also have a few building projects, including natural building and cob work. (Yet to be started ) There’s always work in the gardens, and kitchen cultivating and preparing food. Also Plans to build a steam room, yoga Shala, and rustic cabin.
We are all about community vibes, and very open for new ideas and things that we could create together, we have 120acres of hinterland country backing onto state forests and natural reserves.

I my self am very Interested in movement based practices, meditation, tai chi/qi gong , yoga and breathwork which I would happily be able to share and collaborate together. We also have plenty of forests and clear running creeks to enjoy.

My parents and brother have many years of experience in the regeneration agricultural and permaculture side of things and are always wanting to teach new people.

My goal is to create a space where people can come stay, for longer periods of time. Have a place to train, eat, sleep, learn, grow, to be able to work on them self and reconnect. While still contributing to the land and environment around us.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We are a very open minded Australian family, with a great love for food and community living , i have been travelling alot around the world and have also had alot of culture exchange through workers here on the farm, i think it could be a great place to exchange ideas, and show you a bit about life in australia, on an organic farm surrounded by lush forests and rolling hills

So at the moment, we have a variety of building tasks, a sauna build, tiny house build, natural cob building as well as pizza oven .

Also planting trees across the property and permaculture gardening .
We are looking for people who are enthusiastic and want to learn or share any experience and knowledge. Im open for new ideas and any projects people would like to start.

help could vairy from building garden beds, to composting, feeding animals, helping build things, to helping preserve food, and preparing in the kitchen. Depending what your goals are we can be flexible.

Anything that we get on farm is to be shared , meat, cheese, eggs, vegitables, fruits, herbs etc. And to be included in meals

****** option for less work contribution, and more time for self practice or projects , although the exchange would be less, accomodation and access to all foods that come from the land.. if you are wanting a more Permiculture, home steading food experience , it would be 4-5 hours a day , but chance to learn and eat all the amazing foods me and my parents are cooking and creating - wood fired pizza , pastas , cheeses , fermanted goods , kombucha etc.

Campers or camper vans are very much welcome, we have a lot of space to provide for that. For people who may not have accommodation,at the moment we have a section of the shed that can be suitable for living in, which has private bathroom kitchen and shower. also there may be a spare room in the main house, depending on circumstances.

We are also currently in the process of renovating the shed to a lot more suitable accommodation.

We also have many big tents which can be set up to live in, with access to shower and compost toilet etc.
