Description
We are Mel and Sam, a German - Swiss couple and Lóa Elva, our little family addition. We are calling Iceland our home as we have been living here for 10+ years. We live in a quiet neighbourhood of Reykjavik, very close to nature. We speak German, French and English at home.
We have been travelling a lot, love the outdoors, hiking, board games, cooking, good conversations, common sense and are in general pretty easy going. While we are mostly outdoors during the summer, winter is the cozy time in Iceland with indoor activities.
With the arrival of our daughter we both want to take the opportunity to change what we have been doing professionally, having worked predominantly in the Icelandic tourism industry in the past.
Sam is currently working on his MA thesis in Data Analytics and Mel does children's book illustrations.Types of help and learning opportunities

You'll get free room and board. If you want to improve any of the languages we are speaking we can certainly help you with that. If you want to learn Icelandic we can also point you in the right direction. You can also get as much insight into the Icelandic life as you want as we experienced a lot, the good the bad and the ugly. There are plenty of things to do in Reykjavik and if you like the outdoors you are more than welcome to join our hikes.

Help
Weare looking for someone (preferably german or French speaking) who can look after our daughter (born Nov 22) several hours (ca 4-5) during weekdays, maybe occasionally at the weekend or evening., and also give a hand with sharing the household task.
As we are speaking to her predominantly in German and French we thought it might be better not to add more languages to the mix right now. Amongst us, Sam and I speak English.
Lóa is a very energetic and happy little girl. She loves people and exploration and is easy to deal with. She just started walking at 10 months old and will be eager to run more when winter comes. There are plenty of things to do with her, like outdoor and indoor playgrounds and if you want to have an Icelandic experience you can go with her to a Icelandic playgroup.
We will both be working from home and at least one of us will always be around in case anything comes up.Languages

We have a spacious 4 room apartment. You get your own room with comfortable bed/pullout couch. We do like to cook and the fridge is full so you can help yourself. And if you like to cook too that is certainly a plus.
What else ...
There are plenty of things to do. Swimming pool and gym are 10min walk. We live next to a beautiful valley where you can go for walks and runs. It's ca 25min to downtown by direct bus. In general, Reykjavik has a lot to offer when it comes to activities. Also the sea can be reached in 15min by foot.
