    Description

We are Bob(38) and Marta(39) and living in Portugal now for almost one year. We live on a land in the Douro area. Our plot is in the river valley with several water sources and fruit trees. The land is around 3ha and made with several terraces. This year we started with growing vegetables and planted some trees. Because the land is not maintained for many years we are also busy with cleaning and exploring the land.
I’m (Bob) a stagebuilder and entrepreneur. In the season I work on festivals and the rest of the year working on our land in Portugal. I’m calm, creative, nature loving and adventurous. Marta is a pastry and vegetarian chef. So she really like to work with all the products from the garden and what the neighbors give.
We like to turn the land into a paradise full of fruit orchards and veggie fields. Also there will be room for some art installations and creative projects.
The Douro valley is a hidden paradise in the north of Portugal. There is lots of nature/mountains/waterfalls/rivers and other cool permaculture projects to see. The region is also known for its wine production. Port and vinho verde are one of the more popular wines from this area.
Also the romanic route goes all around the area. Some historical churches and routes can be discovered just around the corner of our land.

    Help

The help you bring in will be very various. We like your help in our gardens by planting/preparing/harvesting. Your help can be needed on the land. Think of cleaning overgrown plants/trees. Making firewood. Help with making paths on the land. We make steps out of wood and some with concrete blocks.
There is many things to build. Firewoods shelter, water tanks, a garage and maybe your help and skills can be used in the tiny house projects.
So, in many different fields we can use some help.
Also because of this the daily jobs can be very different every hour. Also if you have certain skills we like to learn and experience from eachother!
All our knowledge which we got from experience we would love to share!

In your free time there is plenty to discover. You can go on hikes, explore the river by kayaks, take a train to Porto or deeper into the Douro valley. Trainstation is within few kilometers and we are happy to drop you there. There is a Roman route beside some wines routes.
We like to work in the morning a session and than later in the afternoon a session. In between your totally free to explore around or just chill in a hammock!
We share the land also with two kittens and a 5 months old puppy.
