Description
This is an organic farm established in 2015 at the heart of the Natural Park of Southwest Alentejo and Costa Vicentina.
Our main activity is the production of Medronho licor. An exquisite spirit made out of wild berries that are handpicked in surrounding forest land.
During the last 5 years we managed to create and build a solid brand with national distribution. You can see our web page at juniorjacques.pt.
At the moment the project has 3 full time workers and 1part-time.
Currently we are looking for a volunteer to join the team.
This position is for a handyperson. Ideally you will have some skills in carpentry. But you need to enjoy working outside and do physical work.
We offer you a fully independent and comfortable accomodation. In return we expect you to commit between 15 to 20 hours/week. But you are expected to buy your own food.
There are grocery shops less than 1km away. And the vibrant village of Odeceixe and its beautiful beach is only 3km away from us.
If necessary you can use one of our bikes. But you are expected to know your way around this lovely and vibrant community.
We are welcome to host families or digital nomads.
We like to keep it flexible for both sides.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
In general we offer very good living conditions to our visitors. The coast line is only some 5km away. Surfboards and bikes are available. The region offers great surfing and hiking/trekking conditions.
As a growing business, there will be plenty of opportunities to learn how to develop a sustainable farming business.
Workawayers will have the opportunity to learn more about organic farming, forest conservation, destilling and eco-building.

Help
We are looking for a handyperson. A reasonable knowledge and experience using carpentry tools are a plus. But you must be ready and willing to do plenty of outside and physical work too. Including gardening and painting.
