  Hello!
  
  We are Alba and Joan, a 30 year-old couple.
  
  We just bought a house in a rural area about 30 minutes from the city of Girona and we want to start an andventure with a permacultural approach.
  
  Alba is a nurse and works in an association that deals with grief and death, offering support to relatives or people who are close to death, workshops, grief groups, etc.
  
  Joan studied engineering and works two days a week at the University of Girona as a professor, although he has also had other jobs and spends much more time at home than teaching.
  
  The house is an old farmhouse in the middle of the forest with a meadow and beautiful views of Llémena Valley. In the area there are rivers where you can bathe, mountains and routes for walking and a good neighborhood. We are surrounded by a lovely net of good friends in the valley!
  
  The adventure has just started and would like to share it with you!
  
  We installed solar panels and we are designing the electrical system and the water system, which we collect from the rain.
  
  We built new garden beds with the Hugelculture method and a small greenhouse and already planted the vegetable garden this spring!
  
  In the future we want to have a vegetable garden, a food forest, a chicken coop, a greenhouse, a greywater system and many more elements that allow us to increase our energy and food sovereignty.
  
  We love sharing this amazing experience with people from all over the world and that's why we use Workaway! The travelers who have come so far have been amazing and have really enjoyed the experience. We had very good times together and learned a lot from the cultural exchange :)

  Somos Alba i Joan, pareja de 30 años. Acabamos de adquirir una casa en una zona rural a unos 30 minutos de Girona y queremos empezar un proyecto con un enfoque permacultural.
  
  Alba es enfermera y trabaja en una asociación que trata el duelo y la muerte, ofreciendo acompañamientos a familiares o personas cercanas a la muerte, talleres, grupos de duelo, etc.
  
  Joan estudió ingeniería y trabaja dos días a la semana en la Universidad de Girona como profesor, aunque también ha ido teniendo otros trabajos y dedica más tiempo a la casa que a la docencia.
  
  La casa es una antigua masía en medio del bosque con un prado y unas vistas preciosas del Valle del Llémena. En la zona hay ríos donde bañarse, montañas y rutas para caminar y un buen vecindario. Tenemos una buena red de amistades en el valle!
  
  La aventura acaba de empezar, acabamos de colocar placas solares y estamos diseñando el sistema eléctrico y el sistema de agua, que recogemos de la lluvia.
  
  Hemos creado bancales de huerta con el método Hugelculture y hemos construido un pequeño invernadero y plantado para el verano!
  
  En el futuro queremos tener huerta, bosque de alimentos, gallinero, un invernadero, un sistema de aguas grises y muchos más elementos que nos permitan incrementar nuestra soberanía energética y alimentaria.
  
  Nos encanta compartir esta increíble experiencia con personas de todo el mundo y por eso usamos Workaway! Los viajeros que han venido hasta ahora han sido fantásticos y han disfrutado mucho la experiencia. Hemos tenido muchos buenos momentos juntos y hemos aprendido muchísimo del intercambio cultural :)

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  During your stay, you can learn about sustainability and resilience techniques such as water management, regenerative agriculture and energy. And, specially, to live simply!
  We can teach you a little Catalan or Spanish. We are learning French (we also speak English).
  You will have the opportunity to meet local Catalan people who live in the valley and share good time with them.
  If you want to, we can teach you some traditional dances and if we are motivated, go to a traditional dance session!
  We can also spend time at the river or go on an excursion, there are beautiful mountains very close by!
  
  Durante la estancia, podrás aprender sobre técnicas para la sostenibilidad y resiliencia como la gestión del agua, agricultura regenerativa y energía. Y sobretodo, a vivir con poco!
  Podemos enseñarte un poco de catalán o castellano. Nosotros estamos aprendiendo francés (también hablamos inglés).
  Tendrás la oportunidad de conocer personas locales catalanas que viven en el valle.
  Si quieres, te podemos enseñar algunos bailes tradicionales de la zona y si nos motivamos podemos ir a algún baile!
  También podemos compartir ratos en el río o hacer alguna excursión, tenemos algunas montañas muy cerca!

  - vegetable garden: garden beds, preparing the plants, watering

  It is important that the person who comes is willing to be alone sometimes, even though most of the time Alba or Joan will be there too :)

  Accommodation

  ENGLISH:
  
  The accommodation consists of a tiny wooden house (only 6 square meters) with no electricity, no water, and plenty of privacy. There is also the option of camping (we can provide a tent).
  
  We will eat together whenever we are at home and we will share the work of cooking and cleaning between everyone. We offer food as part of the exchange.
  
  The food will be cooked by everyone, probably in turns or together, so you will also help in the kitchen. At home, the food is mostly organic and vegetarian, but not 100%.
  
  CASTELLANO:
  
  El alojamiento consiste en una casita de madera estilo Tiny House pero muy pequeña (sólo 6 metros cuadrados) sin luz, sin agua, con mucha privacidad. También hay la opción de acampar (ofrecemos tienda).
  
  Comeremos juntos siempre que estemos en casa y iremos repartiendo el trabajo de cocinar y limpiar entre todas.
  Ofrecemos comida como parte del intercambio.
  
  La comida será cocinada por todos, probablemente por turnos o juntos, así que también ayudarás en la cocina.
  En casa, la comida es mayoritariamente ecológica y vegetariana, pero no al 100%.

  What else ...

  ENGLISH
  
  In your free time you can stay at home if you want, go for a walk (there is a hike to a very nice mountain right from the house), go to the river, go to visit nearby towns or cities (Olot, Girona, Sant Martí, Les Planes...).
  
  The public transport options to get to the house are few. There is a bus that runs 3 times a day to a point that is 30 minutes walk from the house. We can also pick you up at that point.
  
  At home:
  - There is no TV
  - We try to consume only organic or recycled products from the market. So please, if you bring food or soap, let it be natural and organic and with as little packaging as possible.
  - The food is mostly vegetarian
  -We do NOT smoke or drink alcohol. If you are looking for this kind of environment this is definitely not your place.
  - We only have hot water when it's sunny and the solar panels are capable to heat it.
  - The toilet is a dry toilet, meaning human excrement is composted
  - At the moment we don't have any animals
  - When friends come over, we might slip into Catalan, but we'll make sure to switch to Spanish or English so you can understand us
  - As a couple, we practice consensual non-monogamy (although we never called it that way)

  En tu tiempo libre puedes quedarte en casa si lo deseas, irte a caminar (hay una excursión a un monte muy bonito justo desde casa), ir al río, ir a visitar pueblos o ciudades cercanas (Olot, Girona, Sant Martí, Les Planes...).
  
  Las opciones de transporte público para llegar a la casa son pocas. Hay un bus que pasa 3 veces al día hasta un punto que está a 30min caminando de casa. También podemos ir a recogerte en ese punto.
  
  En casa:
  - No hay TV
  - Intentamos consumir sólo productos ecológicos o reciclados del mercado. Así que por favor, si traes comida o jabón, que sea natural y ecológico y con el mínimo embalaje posible.
  - La comida es mayoritariamente vegetariana
  - No fumamos ni bebemos alcohol. Si estás buscando un sitio fiestero o con este ambiente, este no es tu lugar.
  - Sólo tenemos agua caliente cuando jace sol y los paneles solares son capaces de calentar agua.
  - El baño es un baño seco, es decir, se compostan los excrementos humanos
  - Por el momento no tenemos animales
  - Cuando vienen amistades en casa, es posible que se nos escape hablar en catalán, pero pondremos atención en pasar a castellano o inglés para que nos entiendas
  - Como pareja, practicamos la no-monogamia consensuada (aunque nunca la habíamos llamado así)
