Description
A little about me
Hello, I'm Rosie😊 I'm 71 years old and a retired nurse from the UK. I moved to Portugal five years ago and I now live on a small, peaceful farm surrounded by nature.
This is my home, not a business. It was originally home to six black cats, although there are now nine cats living here! Some enjoy sharing the house with me, while others prefer the annex, so it's important that you like cats and are comfortable around animals. The farm is a quiet place with plenty of wildlife, especially birds. If you're looking for somewhere to slow down, enjoy nature, and escape the noise of everyday life, you'll probably feel at home here.
My family from the UK visits occasionally, and English is essential, as it's the language we use to communicate. In my free time I enjoy knitting, sewing, crocheting, and all kinds of crafts. I love learning new skills and I'm always happy to share the ones I already have.
Where you'll be staying
Workawayers stay in the spacious main house, which has been lovingly kept in its traditional style, with vintage furniture, colourful Portuguese tiles, and plenty of character. The house opens onto a shady garden filled with quiet corners where you can read, enjoy a coffee, or simply unwind.
Elsewhere on the property you'll find an annex with another peaceful garden, an olive grove, and a caravan that has been turned into another cosy place to relax. Overall, the property is full of little corners and hidden spots, so there's always something new to discover. There are also chickens, a goose, and a peahen living on the farm. Fresh eggs are usually available for everyone to enjoy since I'm intolerant to eggs myself, so they certainly don't go to waste!
The local area
A small town is just a few minutes away and has supermarkets, local shops, cafés, restaurants, bars, a post office, and other everyday amenities. There are also lovely walking and hiking trails nearby. Just a few kilometres from the farm is the beautiful River Tagus (Rio Tejo), where you'll find several river beaches that are perfect for swimming and relaxing during the warmer months. The river is also rich in wildlife and is a wonderful place for birdwatching and enjoying the local flora and fauna.
A larger historic town is about 12 km away and has a railway station with direct connections to Lisbon, making it easy to explore the city.
Looking forward to meet you😊 -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
It would be good to meet other people and exchange ideas and knowledge, having retired and moved out here it would be good to catch up with the world in general and learn about different cultures etc. There is always something new to learn and everyone has something to contribute. LGBTQ+ people are welcomed here
