    Description

Hi-I have a new opportunity in Puerto Viejo Costa Rica. I moved here from the US about 8 yrs ago with my dogs and a cockatoo. I’ve had various business ventures over the years. Currently I am doing renovations on new rental and some fun garden design.

Do you want to be my neighbors living 2 blocks from the Caribbean? It’s a simple tropical home with a lounge area and a private bedroom & bathroom. The yard is filled with fruits, flowers and edible greens and the dogs hang out over there often.

Since we are located in the town of Puerto Viejo everything is close, restaurants, shopping, beaches & this little residential area offers peace and quiet. The workaway home backs up to a bit of jungle so you often see sloths, iguanas, agouti and other small animals while you are hanging out in a hammock.

I am looking for a couple who enjoys animals, gardening, is flexible, would be considered handy and independent.
You might be asked to help with gardening, cleaning, errands and some building or improvement projects at the Airbnb or perhaps to house sit if I need to travel.
You may be helping coordinate tasks with local Costa Ricans in a knowledge exchange.
We work with 2-3 locals depending on the day and season. It's a great opportunity for volunteers to gain cultural insight and practice their Spanish skills. The specific hours, days, and tasks will depend on your skill set and the needs of a specific project. It will never be more than 5 days a week.

If you want to meet people from all over the world, this is a great area. Over 50 nationalities call this place home. It provides an opportunity to practice Spanish, see what Pura Vida is all about, participate in the local events, experience wildlife at your door and have access to some of the most beautiful beaches in Costa Rica. With plenty of time to yourself you can make the most of your time to see what life is really like here.

    Help

I need assistance with pet care, small errands, gardening and assistance with some remodeling projects. The typical hours are between 8AM (0800) to 2PM (1400) with a break. The work week will not exceed 25hrs however some days may be slightly shorter or longer depending on the particular day.
This position doesn’t require a lot of technical skill however some knowledge of gardening, animals and home improvement will be needed.
Basic Spanish is required to communicate when accomplishing tasks. Many people speak English here but Spanish is needed when shopping to making arrangements for things.

    Accommodation

The accommodation is a stand alone house with a big fenced yard 2 blocks from the beach. Volunteers have a private bedroom with a queen sized bed and bathroom with a separate large common room for volunteers to hang out, eat and a communal kitchen for cooking meals. The patio is a perfect place to hang a hammock and watch the jungle. Household cleaning products & linens are provided along with fans and a mosquito for over the bed.

    What else ...

In your down time there are tons of beaches, jungle hikes, volunteer opportunities, as well as wildlife at your door. I ride my bike everywhere but there are buses to explore things a bit further from town and the cost is very inexpensive. It’s a great town to be able to kick back and relax but still be close to national parks. If you like extra adventure you can take tours for zip lines, white water rafting, night jungle hikes, snorkeling, surfing and a lot more. It is impossible to list all the ways to spend time here. There seems to be something for everyone at every level of adventure.
