Update: We already got 1 work exchanger
Looking for 1 more with experience in building/construction/maintenance for our waste management project/garden and general house maintenance. This may also include socializing with the expats and the general public about the importance of proper waste management, and help strategizing around that goal

    Note:
We don't provide daily meal, and the room has no AC, only fan

Volunteer at A Creative & Sustainable Community Space in Bali

Join us at the tropical transit in Batursari, Bali—where creativity meets sustainability. We are looking for volunteers to help with a variety of tasks, from maintaining the space to assisting with community projects. In exchange for 14 hours of work per week, we offer accommodation and an opportunity to be part of meaningful initiatives.

    What You Can Do:
    - House Maintenance & Care: Handle general upkeep like feeding pets, watering the garden, solving sustainability-related issues, and assisting with marketing and content creation.
    - Assist Projects: Help with marketing, logistics, and other tasks to support the projects associated with our place.
    - Community Engagement: Socialize with the local community to promote sustainability, trash management, and environmental awareness.
    - Support Our Family: Assist my mother with daily tasks, including street dog care and home management. Learn traditional cooking and herbal medicine along the way.
    - Give Feedback: Stay in one of our rooms and provide valuable feedback to improve our services.
    - Event Organization: Help organize and host events such as language exchange, movie nights, game development workshops, and more.
    - Creative & Digital Projects: If you're a gamer, digital artist, or programmer, you can contribute to our social impact games focused on Bali's sustainability.

    What's In It for You:
    - Free participation in weekly activities and workshops.
    - Up to 15% discount on organic produce from our organic food supplier Bali Jiwa.
    - Opportunities to gain skills in marketing, event management, and sustainability.
    - Single bedroom in a welcoming community sharehouse (14 hours of work per week).
    - Access to a network of dedicated individuals and organizations deeply involved in Bali’s sustainability and social impact initiatives. This is a unique chance to connect with the heart of the island’s environmental and cultural transformation.

    What We’re Looking For:
    - Volunteers who are passionate about sustainability and community building.
    - Preferably locals who understand the culture, though we welcome anyone with the right mindset.
    - Must be able to ride a motorbike.
    - Marketing skills are always needed!

We ask for 10 hours/week for "hard task" or 4 hours/week for "easy task" (tasks that can be done while they still do their things, or routine and general responsibility and minding and researching solutions)
Some tasks are routine and actually takes 5 minutes each, some 2-3x/day. These are rounded up to 1 hour
In practice, the easy tasks are not gonna actually take 4 hours of continuous/laborious work. Playing with the turtle/cat is a task
The hard tasks such as admin, social media, and cooking are not all expected to be handled as part of the work exchange. We have dedicated people to handle these tasks, and for example cooking is just for us or whoever wants to join the home cooked meal just for themselves.

For this house, we currently have
2 local staff coming once a week for housekeeping,
1 for general garden cleaning and maintenance a few days a week,
    2 tenants,
    1 co-worker, and
1 volunteer specializing in gardening/permaculture occassionally in the house
Soon there are 2 more local volunteers coming, but they may take the available rooms outside of this house

If you’re looking to make a difference while exploring Bali and learning new skills, it is the perfect place for you. Join us in creating a sustainable and creative community!

    Note:
There's a lot more to explain and this description will be updated
But basically, we are a family with many potential for accomodation. In number of free bedrooms:
    2 in this house
4 in some other house that's ready too
5 that's not ready yet for whatever reason
Several rented and under our management
Potentially a bunch more not managed by us but we're affiliated
Most of them are pretty fancy too. For some like Muntir, it is in a shared house
We need help managing the business as a whole, or lighten load with general housekeeping across the houses

Our Mission & Community Involvement: Our family and close community are actively involved in a wide range of social and environmental initiatives across Bali. We are passionate about addressing the island’s challenges, from tourism’s impact to creating new models of sustainable living, and showcasing Bali’s potential to an international audience.

By helping us, I (the one coming up with this work exchange, among others) can have more time to do what i have to do. Among the longer term goal is to make several social impact games, some multiplayer, all will be very awesome, with the goal to unify and facilitate sustainability/social projects and presenting it through play

    Community Guidelines

Welcome! This space hosts several businesses, so this guide covers just the general points
    Take care of yourself
Stay hydrated. Self serve coffee/tea. Watercooler
Remember to take breaks and stretch
Invest in good work posture (separate keyboard, heightened screen, try work standing)
Make ur work camp with pillows. We encourage to make movement often. Ask for low table/standing desk, or workspace tips
There’s shower. Please bring own towel
    Nap is ok.

    Take care of others
We take acts of discrimination and harassment very seriously. Something we should know? Contact the team
We believe in community tech support for all. Tech is human’s tool. So if AI dooms everything, this space would hopefully have prepared us
Understand + don’t assume + respect privacy of others. Collab is cool too
Our neighbor to the west is Pak Man. He’s a local who runs karaoke for a living. No don’t be scared. No don’t only respect him. Together we are spaces to bridge an understanding between the local and international culture, perhaps through music too.

    Take care of the space
Hygiene. Shoes/sandals off. Please wash feet too
No to plastic. Reusable lunch box/tupperware are very appreciated
Cleanliness. Please report spills/stains. Food in dining area only. Return after borrowing
Live with the ecosystem of the house. We currently have a war with the ants and other species
Leave spaces (online and offline) better than you found them. Feel free to bring your own stuff (chair, rubberduck, pillow, pilates ball)
Extend your care for the local community, for Bali, and for the planet. There are lots of rules related to housekeeping, but they should all have good reasons

Feedback always welcomed. Let us know:
