We just opened a new hostel wishing to boost the touristic activity in the north of Arica. Located in Villa Frontera (Gallinazo or Chacalluta), 10km away from the city center but close to the beach ! Owned by a classic 'Ariqueña' surfer family, so if you want to learn to surf or to live this local lifestyle this is the place for you!
I have an hydraulics and environmental engineer degree so I'm wishing to get a good team of conscious people to work with. The projection of the hostel is to be sustainable in solar energy, organic food, good use of well water and reciclying. We want to show local people that sustainability is posible !

Arica is a highly cultural place, theres a coexistance of different communities: aymara, quecha, afro, peruvian, chilean. There are frequent andine festivities to go, the biggest one the carnival "Con la Fuerza del Sol". We have the oldest mummies in the world, from Chinchorro culture, you can visit them in different touristic spots. From our close friends you can learn about local surfers life and how it has been growing the last 10 years, turning Arica the city with more national surf champions (Yeah, a lot more than Pichilemu!). Our dry and sunny days make Arica a perfect spot to enjoy the beaches in the day and to observe the sky at nights!
The main we need is a very sociable person willing to work in out high season, probably most of the time boosting our bar and making entertainment activities for our guests. Minimum stays are for 2 weeks, though the longer the stay the better. We expect a funny person to join our solid summer team.
Besides that, for our maintenance tasks we prefer carpenteers for working with recycled pallets and artists to paint murals. All the volunteers need to help with the cleaning. If you have artistic talents to make our day to day living better u are welcome to !

We have a private room for the two volunteers staying longer and a shared room for shorter stays. You will be provided with breakfast and total use of the facillities of the hostel: kitchens, bathrooms, swimming pool, barbeque places and entertaining zones.
To get to the Surfcamp there is public transport from Av. Santa Maria (bus 1 that says Villa Frontera) and Uber works well. I can give you rides to the beach or to the centre whenever I can !
