    Description

    Hello!

We are Céline & Santiago, a Franco-chilean couple, we live with our 3 fluffy dogs in San Fabian, on the footsteps of the Andes.

San Fabian is 5 hours south of Santiago, 2.5 hours driving from Concepcion - also accesible by bus. It is a local touristic destination, not very well known yet - but there is a lot to do in the area: hiking, rafting, cycling, swimming in the river, horseback riding etc. Visiting San Fabian and its mountains, you can learn about the traditional lifestyle (incl. of the "arrieros").

We live on a 5.000 sqm piece of land with very nice mountain views, and we constantly work on improving the house and garden to make it our little paradise :)
Celine works remotely as a consultant, and Santiago, engineer in the conservation of natural resources, is fully dedicated to the home projects.

We love hiking, woodworking (we do - or try to do - our own furniture), the good food and wine (Santiago is a great cook!) - and meeting new people :)

Our dogs are part of the family, they are big dogs and very affectionate (sometimes a bit too much). They sleep outside but do spend time in the evening with us inside, so you'll need to be a dog lover to stay with us :)

PS: we usually commit to one week stays

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

We share 2 different cultures, and are always curious about others! We enjoy sharing about our cultures and learningn about others - food, customs, fun facts...
We enjoy learning, and helping others to learn, languages. We take part in social activities you can join too (eg sports training, social gatherings) - and meet more people!

Staying with us you can learn about the lifestyle here of course, but also develop your DYI skills, learn about traditional chilean food (Santiago grew up in a traditional restaurant), and get ready for your next aventure!

    Help

Depending on your skills, what you want to learn, how long you stay and what our needs are when you arrive, we could ask your support on:
    - gardening (we have a lot of fruit trees to maintain )
    - small maintenance tasks (paint fences, etc.)
    - construction (this summer 2024-25 we want to finish our terrace, build a glasshouse, and develop our irrigation system)

One bedroom with a double bed, and one small bedroom (in the attic) with 2 single beds.
If you prefer camping or staying in your van, that is possible too.
There is a guest bathroom (just for you!) with hot shower.

We are happy to share the meals with you (breakfast - lunch - dinner). You are also free to help yourself between the meals if you are hungry!
We take care of grocery shopping, but cooking is a shared responsability - we are curious about your best recipes, but no pressure ;)

We are not vegetarians, but we only eat meat occasionnally. We can easily accomodate vegetarians. If you are vegan, you may have to be more involved in the cooking!
