Description
Hello workaway-er, my name is Matthieu, I'm 35 years old.
My team and I, grows organic vegetables for the local farmer's market, several grocery stores in the area, and other partner farms. We also have a few laying hens and very affectionate cats on the farm!
I'm a welcoming, kind, and open-minded person who loves meeting new people. Several of us on the team have studied in fields related to agriculture (agricultural engineering and agronomy) and have also taught in the field before; we love sharing our passion.
The farm has 10 hectares of fields and 20 hectares of woodland, a greenhouse, the house, and the farm building. There's a pool and a pond for swimming.
We're a 15-minute drive from Sherbrooke.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
Cultural exchange on our farm goes beyond daily work. I love the outdoors and enjoy sharing activities like hiking, swimming, and evenings spent together around a campfire. These moments create a relaxed space for conversation, connection, and cultural exchange.
Our region offers a lot to explore, with several mountains and lakes nearby. Sherbrooke is also close and provides access to many cultural activities, events, and local life. Workawayers are welcome to join and discover the area while sharing their own interests, stories, and traditions.
Life here is about learning from each other—through farm work, shared experiences, and time spent together.

Help
The activities are varied and vary depending on the time of year. We sow seeds in the greenhouse in the spring, transplant crops in the fields for a good part of the season, harvest and weed, and in the fall, we harvest large quantities of storage vegetables.
Throughout all this, we undertake various farm improvement and maintenance projects, construction, and machinery modification and repair.
As required by Workaway for working farms and registered businesses, all help provided through this platform is considered paid work.
As we also welcome volunteers through other exchange-based platforms, a minimum level of experience, practical skills, and a longer stay are expected.
Free accommodation is provided on the farm, and hours worked through Workaway are paid at the Québec minimum wage.
Workawayers are responsible for ensuring they have the appropriate visa, work permit, and insurance required to legally work in Canada.

Accommodation
In the farmhouse, there are two spare rooms and plenty of space on the land for those who want to camp! We eat a lot of vegetables, but also meat, but we are very helpful with everyone's dietary choices and restrictions. We cook together in the evenings and arrange to have dinners already prepared or quickly made for the workdays. Breakfast is mostly all on our own!
