    Description

Welcome to Golden BC, this is one of the best places to be!!
We live just 10 min outside of town, on a beautiful 5 acre property, surrounded by mountains.

I'm Taro, I've been building with recycled materials for over 25 years, I'm a Master Electrician and Eco builder, Farmer, and Father. And I am Cat, traveling was my passion in my 20s, I'm a gardener, a vacation rental manager and mother of a beautiful 13 year old daughter, Ember who has a big passion for horses and is homeschooling. We have a dog, Scruffy, who is Taro's shadow, Patches, our cat, she is just adorable and we have 3 super cute ponies, Lancelot, Turbo and Cooper.

This Spring, Taro wants to cross a few projects off his list. Finishing a tiny vacation rental, raising a new barn for the ponies, starting to build an earth ship inspired auditorium, fencing the property to one day welcome horses, cleaning up the property ; moving material and demolishing buildings and we'll see where we get. We are looking for a few people to help with labor work and learn a few new skills. You need to have a strong back and excited to work.
Our deal is, you get to have your own accommodation, which is a beautiful renovated Barn turned into a rental. It's a 2 bedroom unit with full equipped kitchen, Starlink internet and great place to hang out. You work the equivalent of 3 full days a week with us and the rest of your time is free for you to explore the region. We do not provide food and you need your own vehicle. If things are working good, we may be able to pay you for extra hours but this is to be determined. We are looking for people for April and May only.

If you feel the call please contact us.

Working with Taro, you will get plenty of ideas on how to build smart and for cheap using recycled materials. Golden is at the heart of many Nation Parks so on your time off, you can explore everyday! The views from our property are stunning with beautiful mountains. We have the ponies and our daughter loves to spend time with them and so can you. We like going for a big walk in the forest with Scruffy everyday.
We would also be happy to show you around a few of our favorite spots.
We speak English in the house but Cat is originally from Quebec and speaks French as well. So if you are French and need a transition place to start learning English, we are the right stop. We had hosted volunteers for 5 years now and then we took a few years off. We are looking forward to be part of Workaway again.

So for working 3 days a week, you get to live in a beautiful rental and have the chance to explore the region which includes many National Parks (Yoho, Banff, Glacier and Kootenay), hot springs and more. You need to have your own vehicle, we are 10 min away from the town of Golden and to have a better experience in Canada, a car is definitely needed.

We are really looking forward to meet you!! You will love it!! And thank you so much for giving some of your time to help us realize some of our projects!!
