  Description

  Our non-profit cultural centre is based in Losone, in the Italian-speaking part of Switzerland, close to Locarno and Lake Maggiore.
  
  The centre is home to a music school, a tango school, a renowned dance-theatre academy, creative workshops and spaces used by local artists and performing arts groups. Throughout the year, we host courses, rehearsals, workshops, concerts, theatre performances and other cultural events.
  
  But please note: Workaway here is not an artistic course or retreat.
  
  While you will be living in a creative and cultural environment, the help we need from Workawayers is mostly practical and connected to maintaining, improving and developing the place.
  
  Depending on the period, this can include:
  
  * gardening and outdoor maintenance
  * weeding, pruning and taking care of our bamboo and green areas
  * painting and small renovation projects
  * basic DIY and maintenance
  * cleaning, organising and preparing spaces
  * helping in the kitchen and cooking
  * moving materials, furniture or equipment
  * helping us prepare spaces before or after events
  
  We are currently also renovating and developing new spaces that will eventually be used for artistic activities and residencies, so there is always something to build, repair, improve or reorganise.
  
  You don’t need to be a professional, but we especially appreciate people who are practical, independent, willing to work with their hands and able to see what needs to be done.
  
  Of course, living here also means discovering the cultural life of the centre, meeting the people who use it and sometimes experiencing rehearsals, performances or events taking place during your stay. But these activities vary throughout the year and should be considered part of the environment rather than the main purpose of the Workaway.
  
  We also enjoy welcoming families and people of different ages and backgrounds. What matters most to us is a good attitude, curiosity, flexibility and a genuine willingness to contribute to the everyday life of the place.
  
  If you enjoy combining practical work with life in an unusual cultural environment, you will probably feel at home here.

  👉 You will be staying inside an active cultural centre where music, dance, theatre, creative work and community life are part of the everyday environment.
  
  Depending on the period, you may meet artists, musicians, dancers, students and people from different countries, and there may be rehearsals, performances, workshops or cultural events happening during your stay.
  
  Please keep in mind that these activities vary throughout the year and are not organised as part of the Workaway experience. The exchange comes mainly from sharing daily life with the people who use and develop the centre.
  
  Outside the centre, Losone and the Locarno region offer beautiful rivers, mountains, hiking trails and swimming spots, all within easy reach.

  Help

  👉 We are mainly looking for practical, hands-on help with the everyday maintenance and development of our cultural centre.
  
  Tasks can include gardening and outdoor maintenance, weeding, pruning and bamboo care, painting, small renovation and DIY tasks, cleaning and organising spaces, moving materials or equipment, shopping, cooking, and helping to prepare spaces before or after events.
  
  The work varies depending on what is happening at the centre, so we particularly appreciate people who are flexible, independent and happy to get their hands dirty.

  Accommodation

  👉 We offer a simple, comfortable stand-alone dormitory room with 3 bunk beds (up to 6 people), which may be shared with other Workawayers. Meals are usually taken together, creating a relaxed, family-style atmosphere.

  What else ...

  The Locarno region offers a great mix of nature, culture and outdoor activities. In their free time, volunteers can enjoy:
  
  • Hiking in the valleys and mountains around Losone.
  • Swimming in the rivers and in Lake Maggiore during the warmer months.
  • Exploring Locarno and Ascona, with their old towns, markets, cafés and cultural events.
  • Outdoor activities throughout the region, including cycling, climbing and the famous 220m Verzasca Dam bungee jump.
  • Easy access to public transport for exploring other parts of Ticino and nearby Italy.
  
  Losone is very close to Locarno and Ascona, while the valleys, mountains, rivers and lake are all easily accessible — so there is plenty to discover independently during your free time.
