    Description

    We are a non smoking family based in a small town in the South east of England, close to Brighton, Lewes, Hastings and Eastbourne and 1 hour train ride from London. If you visit in the summer, the days are longer and warmer, so you can get more out of your stay;
    We work from home and so are around most of the time. We are vegetarian but eat fish, so most meals are vegetarian; you will get three meals a day if required. We grow alot of salad and leafy vegetables in the summer, so its quite healthy staying with us. We also make our own jam using fruit from our garden; plus home made bread!! So plenty of home cooking.
    In summer you may be asked to help with gardening, painting and decorating.
    In winter you are more likely to be inside.
    We treat you as part of the family so would appreciate it if you join in with the washing up/cooking as required.

    What else ...

    There are many attractions to see in this beautiful part of Sussex, on the border with Kent, with the coast, including the gorgeous historic Rye & the many attractions of Hastings a 30 minute drive away, Seven Sisters, Birling Gap and the beautiful coastal scenery of the National Park of the South Downs is approx I hour away.

    Local attractions such as Scotney Castle, Bewl Water & Bedgebury, a short drive away, as well as walks on the outskirts of the village. The area is popular for sailing, cycling, bird watching, fishing.

    We are near to many historic places. Many nice walks in the local area; we live in an AONB (Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty!) There are a fair number of picturesque stately homes/castles near us, including the world famous garden at Sissinghurst House and Garden, the iron merchant's house at Scotney Castle, Rudyard Kipling, who wrote the Jungle Book, lived in a nearby village and his house, Bateman's in Burwash is open to the public... Plus the iconic Bodiam Castle at Bodiam, Sussex. Its true to say that Sussex is one of the most beautiful parts of the UK. (Hence why Harry and Meghan chose it to be their special place.)

    London is approximately 1 hour by train from Wadhurst station in the village.
    Direct trains to London; the train station is within about 20 minutes walking distance (2 trains an hour).
    You can borrow our bicycles.
    You can also get buses to Brighton.

    Sissinghurst garden & 30 minutes away is Winnie the Pooh's home Hartfield, aprox 40 minutes is Churchill's home Chartwell.

    There are lots of classic homely British pubs, some within walking distance!

    You can see glimpses of us in Bodiam castle and nearby village of Goudhurst on Soline's Teatime on U tube

    Hope to see you in beautiful East Sussex soon.
