  • Description

    There is just nature, and silence ;
Just the sound of wind and time.
The nearest village is 15 minutes walk AWAY and there is just a coffee shop which is open from time to time. We are located at the beginning of the Ida mountains ;300 meters attitude, across Bozcacada (Tenedos Island), in the heart of the ancient Troy where you can smell the history.

I'm a retired architect and a painter. 5 years ago i came to this part of turkey for business and after staying around for some time i decided to leave the crowd of the city and go on living here. So we bought this piece of land 3 years ago . My two kids come here mostly in return so we are 2 or three living here most of the time. I have 2 cats, asd some chicken, I spent most of my time reading and painting.

I Love to have visitors here to share the beauty.
This is an 45 acres of land with an old grape yard , some olive trees, woods and rocks. We try to produce our own electricity, pomp our own water, try to produce our own organic food.Trying create a self-sufficient farm.

In summer we try to go swimming in the turquoise waters of the North Aegean sea! Other times we just try to develop the farm ! We are new to farmlife, since three years much has been already achieved, but much has still to be created: a pool to be fixed for the geese and ducks, painting walls and some old furniture , making a clay oven in the garden, planting new trees, carpentary etc. So that we can arrange the place for nature campers and workshops which will be starting this summer.

Ideal retreat place, and especially for painting and writing.
We need people with farming experience.

  • Help

The help needed here is flexible but tends to be physical as maintenance of the farm is the priority. We need volunteers not afraid to get their hands in the soil , not scared and allergic to animals . The work is generally outdoors.

Pruning the grape yards , planting vegetables and (always) weeding, irrigation ,cleaning coops is our main daily work.

Depending on the time of the year a brief monthly outline:

From January to May is getting ready for the summer, repairs , painting, collecting rocks, cleaning
March to May planting the garden. (laying Irrigation systems to begin with)
May to August is garden maintenance.
September is making vinegar and grape paste
October is collecting olives, still vinegar making. Pruning grape yards
May to to September is the busiest time for guests
October to December, processing the land. fertilising, planting,

Other than the general work above we urgently need carpenters to build fences and some sofas and a patio. We need to fix some doors and old furniture. We also need urgent tiling,
Also some strong people to clean the garden from rocks.
(people who knows how to use electic trimmer,
motor hoe machine, small tractor will be appreciated)
I am open to your needs as a volunteer but I do ask a minimum of two weeks commitment. But please email and we can talk possibilities.

IMPORTANT: As a measure of safety please make sure you have valid health insurance in case of an unlikely injury or sickness.
You will be using tools so you must be able to understand instructions , your safety is important to us.

  • Accommodation

A guest house; that can accommodate 5 with kitchen and bathroom!
A wooden cottage : that can accomodate 3, with nothing (just like a tent) just for sleeping.
Upstairs of the mainhouse: that can accommodate 4 (with bathroom.)
    Plenty of space for tents.

When we are crowded, there is always somebody responsible of cooking.
Other times depending on the work, either we cook and eat together or we provide the food for the volunteers to cook for themselves. Every body is free with their timing other than working schedule.

Depending on dates, every option is possible for volunteers.
