    Description

We live on a historic farming property in the beautiful Clare Valley and also run a hospitality business.

We are looking for up to two energetic, fit and motivated people to help our team on the property with:
    1) renovations of historic sandstone buildings and general maintenance on the property, including gardening
    2) general assistance in the hospitality business, including functions, catering and housekeeping.

Single travellers are welcome, as well as couples. Accommodation is provided, as well as some meals, with facilities for self catering if you prefer.

We have a great permanant team who you would be working alongside, and family who regularly assist in the business. Attitude is more important than experience, though we'd love to know what skills you might already have so we can make the most of your time with us.

While staying with us, there will be plenty of opportunity to enjoy the scenic property (cropping, grazing and heritage buildings; with walking trails and swimming pool to use in warmer months), interact with animals (including dogs, deer, kangaroos, sheep, horses etc), and learn about farming if you wish.

We also live in beautiful wine region which you are welcome to explore, and are 8-10 minutes from town of Clare and 2 hours from Adelaide.

For both roles, a minimum 2 week stay is required.

For the building renovation and maintenance role, we need someone who can work alongside our staff in renovating 180 year old buildings and doing other maintenance. You would need to be relatively strong and fit, and some experience with labouring and/or trades is preferred but not essential. You may be moving rubble, repairing stone walls, painting, sanding woodwork or gardening.

For the hospitality role, no two days are ever the same! One day you may be helping make beds and prepare cottages for incoming guests, while the next day you may be assisting with a wedding celebration or helping prepare a meal for a tour group. You would need to have a positive attitude, be well presented and have an eye for detail. Experience in hospitality would be advantageous but not eseential.

    What else ...

Clare is 2 hours from the city of Adelaide - and a bus runs between Adelaide and Clare 3-4 times a week if you do not have a car. Our property is located 12 kilometres from the town of Clare, which has a range of shops etc. The region has many wineries, art galleries and historic sites, as well as great walking/cycling trails which have been enjoyed by many other travellers who have stayed with us. Past travellers have also taken time off to visit the Flinders Ranges, Eyre Peninsula and Yorke Peninsula.

This opportunity is best suited to those travellers who have either an interest in building/trades/gardening or enjoy hospitality; and are energetic and self motivated and wish to experience country life. If you do not have a car, your time exploring the region will be more limited, although we will do our best to show you the local highlights when our work and family commitments permit. We have travelled widely ourselves and also had many travellers work here in the past from all over the globe, so we enjoy meeting them and learning about their experiences.
