Welcome to a ranch adventure! We are so excited to have you on board to check out everything going on here on the Mountain. We are located 100 miles SE of Billings, MT and/or 45 miles North of Sheridan, Wy. We live just 30 miles from the Custer's Last Stand Battlefield, a short 4 hour drive to Yellowstone. We are a family of 5, with two wonderful children we are raising and one who is our guardian angel. we also run 1500 yearlings (young cattle), and 200 cow-calf pairs (mom's and babies!) in the Wolf Mountains. We also have a couple dozen horses that are in training and would love to have you play around (on the ground) with them! As we are a busy ranch operation there may or may not be time to help you learn to ride. But you will have available access to be around and groom and handle horses your entire stay.
One of the other projects we have going on at the ranch is lots of carpentry projects - from barn building to log cabin building we have our own sawmill and are looking for help to get that going!
If you are choosing to come work away with us during July-September you will definitely be out in the mountains harvesting our amazing JuneBerries, Raspberries, Thimbleberries, as well as later on Plums, Chokecherries, and apples! We would love to learn how to can jellies and syrups and can learn together! There are more berries on the mountain grown in the wild than most people can imagine!
We are a hard-working family with lots of opportunities for learning! We do a lot of fencing, checking and doctoring cattle and may ask you to groom horses while here, we also do a lot of other projects in order to support the ranching lifestyle - Tour of Kindness speaking engagements, Non-Profit work for The Keya Foundation, Carpentry work and more. If you are here during June you will get in on Branding cattle for ID Purposes as well as lots of babies around the ranch. In July-Sept you will be helping with the garden, houses, and of course horses! We can also always use help with meals, yard work, kids, and just overall upkeep of the ranch!
There is a quaint cabin with a bathroom that would be all yours. It has a small fridge, microwave and coffee pot! Meals would be with the family! We cook three square meals a day! And there is never lacking for sweets it seems! We do have campers and trail riders that come and go and we have a guest house that we use for them, so if that is unoccupied it would be all yours as well! Laundry facilities in the guest house! There is internet at our homeplace but not at the cabins you will stay at. We run our workaway with our family first. We ask that if you choose to workaway with us, you respect that we have some time for our family. i.e. the main house is open for you from 7am - 7pm, We try to relax a little more on sundays provided we don't have major cattle work to do as ranching is a 24/7 operation for us.
We would love to learn from you and for you to learn from us!!

There is so much to learn here! From learning the berries and plants that are safe to horsemanship to caring for livestock the opportunities are truly endless. We feel like it would be an injustice to not share our ranch with others! It is the perfect location to put in a fun day of work and then relax your cares away!
Any landscaping, teaching swimming to all of us :P, yard work, gardening experience is amazing, we can teach you about livestock and the importance of caring and loving your livestock while you are here! Any carpentry skills, outside work would be great assets.

Workawayers will be staying in the Quaint Cabin which is basically a small hotel room! A queen bed, bathroom, small fridge, microwave and coffee pot! It is super cute! If we are not busy with campers and trail riders you will stay in the Guest House which is a larger version of the Quaint Cabin with a small kitchenette. There is laundry available in the Guest House as well as the main house! Meals will be at the Main house!
