  Description

  We live happily on the edge of a lovely Medieval town in the Charente. Our house is 100 metres from the Porte StJacques, which is the beginning of the medieval street. Our garden is wild and wonderful, our garden borders the Thouet River. The local ruins of the old chateau are interesting places to visit, while walks along the river are truly beautiful. My husband and I love the local French community, but as we are aging, we need some help in the garden. We have been growing vegetables, but now wish to turn the old vege patches into a wild garden, like the rest of the property. We need help for a week. We speak English at home.

  Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

  We have lived in South Africa, Belguim, Canada and the Netherlands. Our town has two interesting cafes in the the medieval street, and a small museum featuring local history. I have an art studio and if our helper wanted to work on a short art project, this could be part of the fun.

  Help

  I wish to turn the old vege patches into a wild garden, like the rest of the property.
  We would like to get helping hands from someone who has energy and strength to lift and carry compost smd who can assist with moving some plants. It would be wonderful if our helper knew something about gardening, but this is not essential. We wish to do tasks with this person. As I am a retired art teacher, it may be interesting for our helper to practice some drawing skills with me?

  Accommodation

  We have a nice bedroom with a wonderful view overlooking the old ruins and town. The room has a comfortable bed, with access to a shower and toilet facilities. Breakfast will be a help-yourself arrangement, lunch a sandwich, and hot supper will be provided.

  What else ...

  There are buses to local bigger towns such as Poitiers and Niort. We normally have evening meals at about 19h, watch television till about 22h , after which we have quiet time.
