    Description

Hey, my name is Jose Pedro and I live close to San Fernando, Chile. I am 44 years old and previously I travelled a lot and lived in Finland for a long time. I speak good English and a little bit of Finnish and can of course teach you Spanish, too.

At my stables I work with traumatized or problematic horses using a technique called horsemanship - this is a practice where you teach the horse trust and care in order overcome their fears and give them a good life. Besides the horses that I help I also have a horse that I adopted and take care of and sometimes horses that I take care of for other people. I also have many dogs and one cat.

The volunteers can learn Spanish and the traditional rural life in Chile. From time to time I also need help with the horseriding trips that my company organizes in the mountains nearby, so the helpers can see the local nature, the little lakes and enjoy the mountain air.

    Help

I love to have people around the stables to help - most often they simply need to clean the stables, maintain the fences, help feeding and washing the horses and do general maintenance. The volunteers are allowed to see the training I give to the horses and I also love to teach and share my knowledge.

At a minimum I would love to have volunteers that know how to clean the stables, how to put on a saddle and how to ride a horse. Naturally it is important the volunteer loves animals. Minimum stay is at least 1 week.

I expect the volunteers to help about 4-5 hours a day, depending on the amount of horses. The weekends are free unless we agree otherwise.

    Accommodation

For people staying a short time, I can provide a tent in the yard.

For a volunteer staying for a longer time I can offer a bedroom with private bathroom.

Inside the house it is possible to use the kitchen and take a shower, charge your electronics and relax. There is air-conditioning.

I will also provide all the food - most of the time I eat vegetarian, but I am very open to other preferences.
