Description
We have been working with volunteers since 2016 and we have had good and bad experiences. So if you have any questions, please ask us first 💖
[morning shift]
The morning shift is from 8am to 12pm - 6 days a week / or 5 hours a day for 5 days (starting at 7:30 or 8am), depending on the season.
You will be responsible for the reception during that time - doing check outs, answering questions, updating the system, billing, etc.
From 10/11am we need help with cleaning - both the rooms and the bathrooms.
[night shift]
The night shift is from 7pm to midnight - 5 days a week.
You will be responsible for the reception during that time - doing check ins, answering questions, updating the system, billing, etc.
From 11am we need help with cleaning the common areas.
English and Spanish are required.
[mixed shift]
These are afternoon and evening reception times - no more than 25 per week.
We accept couples, but we cannot guarantee that they will be on the same shift.
High season (January/February) minimum 3 weeks stay. Other months: minimum 2 weeks.

Alta temporada (enero/febrero) mínimo 3 semanas de estadía. Otros meses: mínimo 2 semanas.

We already worked as workawayers so we know that a balance is necessary. We need your help, but we really want that you can enjoy every beautiful place of the island.
We can show everything we know about living in south of Chile and all the diferents aspects of living in Chiloé. We want to have fun together with our volunteers!
Help
We will need help with everything about the hostel - helping with guests, cleaning, doing laundry, checking informations about tours, etc.
Some language practice would be good as well.

Camila is a really nice person and my experience at the hostel was great ! I only stayed two weeks but I've learned a lot.
As the fact the hostel is not a huge one, the atmosphere is friendly and it feels being at home to stay there.
The voluntary time is really nice and Camila manage it really well !

Sophie was an excellent volunteer :) easygoing, really good communication and she can deal with people very well. She stayed for almost two weeks and it was excellent. She speaks Spanish and English very well so she is able to do check ins, talk to everyone, and take care of all the tasks at the hostel. I can recommend 100% :)

Claudia is an easy going person and an excelent volunteer. She stayed for two weeks in charge of the morning shift - preparing breakfast, making the beds and cleaning the house... she did everything with perfection... :)
She treated the guests very well and the other volunteers. It is an awesome person to have in the hostel :)

I spend 2 weeks in Castro as volounteer in Cami’s hostel and the experience was very good.
The job is easy and Cami is helpfull also with all the info about the city and the island, I’ve had free time enough to visit the most important things .

Leslie trabajo en el hostel por unas dos semanas y nos ayudó mucho! Super confiable y hace impecablemente las tareas.
Fadi se quedó en el hostel como huespede por unos días y es una persona muy amigable y entretenida :) Los dos ayudaron a criar un excelente ambiente en la casa.

Me quedé dos semanas en el hostal de Camila. Dos semanas llenas de diversión y conversaciones interesantes.
El trabajo era fácil y tenía mucho tiempo para descansar o descubrir la isla. Hice muchos amigos en el hostal y Camila me ayudó con todo que necesité.

This was my first workaway experience and it could not have been better! Camila is a wonderful, lovely and funny lady and she made me feel home. I only stayed there for a week but I would have loved to stay there longer. The work was really nice and easy. I really recommend to volunteer here if you have the opportunity!

Hannah was an excelent volunteer! Always looking for things to do and giving us some good ideas and advices :) She helped us a lot and she is always kind, lovely and polite with everybody. She had to deal with diferent situations with guests and we know she gave 100% :)

We stayed 2 beautiful weeks with Camila at her brand new hostel in Castro and it was an amazing experience. The hostel has a very chill vibe and the daily work was really simple (cleaning, check-in/check-out, keeping everything in order) which allowed us to get to know the island really well.
