    Description

I live on a beautiful 18-acre property overlooking the Mersey River in the distance, with stunning sunrise views. The dwelling is the original house, built in the 1920s. I share the property with my dog Dixie, two cats (Ted and Bobbie), some chickens, and cattle.

Expect home-cooked meals shared together, good conversation, and a relaxed pace of rural Tasmanian life. The property has that classic country feel — animals, space, and quiet — and Merseylea is a great base for exploring Tasmania's nature and small-town communities nearby. Happy to swap stories about home over dinner.

Looking for a couple of helpers to weed the established gardens before spring arrives. I rent the property in Merseylea, Tasmania directly from the owners — the gardens were beautifully maintained by them, but have gone weedy since they moved out. I'd love help getting them weeded and mulched in time for spring.

There's also room for other tasks if you're up for variety: splitting wood, basic maintenance and general property tidy-up etc..

  • Accommodation

    Accommodation

Accommodation can suit a couple or two individuals. The larger bedroom has a queen bed, the second, smaller bedroom has a double bed. Helpers have their own fridge and full access to shared living spaces. Heating is via a heat pump in the hallway and a wood-burning heater in the lounge.

Must have own transport, as the property is rural and not serviced by public transport. Wifi is available and reliable. No smoking inside the house, but smoking is fine outside. I'll provide breakfast and cook dinner on working days; helpers cover their own lunch, and all meals on weekends/days off.

Wifi is available, so remote work shouldn't be an issue. I'm happy to be flexible with timing — for example, splitting garden/property hours around your work schedule — as long as we agree on it in advance. There's a quiet space available for working outside of task hours.

Campervans or motorhomes are welcome to park on the property. There's no dedicated or level site set up for this, but power could potentially be run out to your vehicle if needed.
