    Description

My husband and I retired to the Comox Valley a decade ago and feel that this is our true place between the ocean and mountains on the west coast of Canada. We enjoy many outdoor activities here such as cycling, hiking, kayaking, snowshoeing, skiing, cold water dipping in ocean, lake and river. The mountain biking mecca in Cumberland, BC is 15 minutes away. We live in a two story home with 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms. The Workaway traveler would have their own bedroom with queen size bed and private bathroom on the lower level that also has the laundry area and a TV viewing area with access to the backyard. We are on the upper level with the kitchen and living room and our bedroom and bathroom. The Workaway would have access to the kitchen anytime for breakfast, lunch and snacks. We will provide a family style meal in the evening. We can guide with travel arrangements to here and to the next stop plus information and assistance on enjoying other adventure options such as whale and bear watching tours in Campbell River, BC, 45 minutes away.

In Comox, we are one of the three communities that comprise the Comox Valley. We are situated in an area with abundant natural beauty on the unceded territory of the K'omoks First Nation, the traditional keepers of this land. Our property borders part of the dedicated K'omoks Reserve. There are two Indigenous art galleries nearby and museums in Comox, Courtenay and Cumberland that display information about Inidgenous history, Settler history and the history of Chinese and Japanese Immigrants int he Cumberland area during the coal mine era. WE look forward to meeting individuals from different countries and language and cultural traditions to share our English and Canadian traditions. We love sharing cooking of different cuisines and appreciate what the Workaway traveler can share with us along the way.
