Description
Welcome to our family , we’re a family of three — a mum, an 11-year-old boy and a 9-year-old girl — living in a beautiful, charming area just outside Madrid, with an easy and quick commute into the city.
I’m an entrepreneur currently building my own startup, while my son is a dedicated football player with Atlético de Madrid, so life in our family is active, busy and full of energy! ⚽️
We’re looking for someone who would enjoy becoming part of our family, sharing everyday life with us and bringing their own personality and energy to our home. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We are a multicultural family originally from Libya, North Africa, with a unique family background that includes different origins and religions. From a young age, I was fortunate to grow up surrounded by different cultures and beliefs, which taught me the importance of respect, kindness, openness and inclusion. I am very grateful for this upbringing and these are values I hope to share with my children who were born in London and grew up between London & Madrid.
Over the years, I have lived in Libya, the UAE, Italy, the UK and California, and we now live in Spain. Because of this, travel and discovering different cultures have always been a big part of my life. I love meeting people from different backgrounds, learning about their traditions, food, languages and ways of life, and sharing our own culture in return.
Our family situation is a little unconventional but very loving. I have been married for 17 years, although my husband and I currently live apart for most of the year because he lives and works in Hong Kong. We remain very close friends and are a strong family unit, with our children always at the heart of everything we do.
For us, having someone stay with our family through Workaway would be much more than simply helping with the children. We would love to welcome someone into our home and share our everyday life, Spanish surroundings, food, traditions and experiences with them, while also learning from their culture and background. We hope it can be a genuine cultural exchange where everyone feels respected, welcomed and part of the family. -

Help
We are mainly looking for someone who can help with the children and become a positive part of our family routine.
The main help we need is:
* School pick-up and drop-off around three times a week. The school is only about a 10-minute walk from our apartment, so driving is not necessary.
* Looking after my younger daughter for a few hours while I take my son to his football training. My son trains on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 17:30–20:00.
* Helping occasionally on Saturday mornings, when my son has football matches, and on Sunday around 11:00, when he has training.
* Playing with the children, keeping them company and helping with homework from time to time if needed.
Being able to drive is definitely a plus, particularly if you have good driving experience and are comfortable driving with children. However, it is not essential as most of the children’s routine is very accessible on foot.
My children are very friendly, social, fun and well behaved. They are independent for their age and listen well, so looking after them is thankfully not particularly difficult.
Beyond childcare, I would really appreciate someone who enjoys being part of family life and contributing where they can. If you enjoy cooking, helping with a little organisation around the house, watering plants, preparing something simple to eat, or bringing your own ideas and energy to our family, that would be wonderful. There is no expectation that you do everything — we are looking for someone who naturally enjoys being helpful and involved.
We would also love to share experiences together. When possible, we would be happy for our Workawayer to join us for hikes, day trips and road trips around Spain, explore new places, share meals and experience Spanish and family life together.
For us, the ideal person is warm, responsible, positive, independent and genuinely enjoys spending time with children. We hope to find someone who doesn’t just come to help us, but who feels welcomed as part of our family and enjoys the experience as much as we do. -

Accommodation
You will have your own private room with a large window overlooking a lovely view. The room has a comfortable single bed, a wardrobe and a desk, giving you your own private space to relax, work or study.
The bathroom is shared with the family. We have two bathrooms in the apartment, so the bathroom is shared but there is good flexibility.
We live in a large, peaceful residential community with lots of green spaces and outdoor areas where you can relax. The urbanisation has its own tennis courts, padel courts, football court and swimming pool, as well as green areas and outdoor seating.
It is a lovely environment for someone who enjoys an active lifestyle, being outdoors and having access to sports facilities. You can also use the facilities and enjoy the community during your free time.
We want you to feel comfortable and at home while staying with us, with your own private room and space, while also having the opportunity to be part of our family and enjoy everything the area has to offer. -
What else ...
We are located in El Encinar de los Reyes, in the Alcobendas/La Moraleja area, just outside Madrid. It is a peaceful and green residential area, but Madrid city centre is very easy to reach by public transport.
There are several bus stops very close to the apartment, and the 155B bus goes directly from Paseo de los Parques to Plaza de Castilla, with a journey of approximately 20 minutes. From Plaza de Castilla, you can easily connect to the Madrid Metro and buses to reach the city centre and other parts of Madrid.
So you can enjoy the peace, space and green surroundings of our area while still having easy access to Madrid for sightseeing, shopping, restaurants, nightlife and exploring the city independently.
Madrid city centre is also very accessible by car, and having a driving licence and good driving experience is a plus if you would like to drive during your stay. -

If you work remotely, there are a couple of comfortable options for working from the apartment. We have a small balcony with a table and chairs where you can work and enjoy the view, as well as a spacious dining area where I usually work myself. You are welcome to use these spaces when they are available. We have good internet access, and we are happy to accommodate someone who needs to work remotely while staying with us. We would simply coordinate around the family routine so that everyone has their own space and privacy.
