Hi, I'm Marije, been living for 6 years in Portugal to follow my passion: making olive oil and teaching all about it. Together with my Portuguese husband Gui we are slowly expanding our farmland to a little olive paradise. I studied olive tasting and growing in Spain and well connected around this industry in Portugal. We have conquered floods, fires, hurricane Leslie and dealing with this Covid-19 stuff. So you can imagine we can use a little help to get back on track...
If you are interested in the annual Olive Harvest, we only start planning this around September, so check around that time. The rest of the year we do a lot of other landwork, planting, grafting, vegetable garden, building, animal care, bottling, packaging and much much more.
Farmstay and help: We find independent people very important and don't like to manage but rather co-work together. We apply by workaway rules but during harvest you must realise that we (ourselves) work 12 hours or more but then also there are rest-days. You can't make quality olive oil without a lot of speed and hard work. So it's very different to normal seasonal work. You will stay in an awesome little village with your own private studio, bathroom, internet and other facilities like a semi-professional kitchen with smoker, barbeque, etc.

We are mixed family, Portuguese and Dutch and you will experience life in Central Portugal. We have set up the farm from scratch so this is great opportunity for a couple with similar plans. Learn from our mistakes and practices. You will learn on how olives are planted, harvested, and how good quality olive oil is made.
This project could involve children. For more information see our guidelines and tips here.
We are a young Dutch/Portuguese family in central Portugal looking for help around our farm. No skills needed just good mood and good energy. Driving license can be handy as we have several groves around to maintain.
We offer a room or studio with private bathroom/kitchenette. Internet, washing machine available. Food and drinks included in the experience. Early breakfast, lunches and dinners. We cook vegetarian and non-vegetarian. We do have animals around our property (dogs, cats, ducks, chicken, sheep) in case of allergies.
If you have a van, you can park at the farm, we have electricity and of course you can use our facilities such as shower & kitchen.
Our area is beautiful, only 15 minutes away from Coimbra. If coming with campervan you can also park this on our lands. We have 2 kids of almost 3 & 5 full of life, we speak 3 languages (Dutch, English, Portuguese) and are very easygoing.
