I am fresh Out of Africa, starting my own adventures in Malta and beyond. I Come from a diverse background of art, space organising and sailing. I am now interested in doing things I love but that also give back to the community so this idea ( art walkabouts are already tried and proved ) really excites me. I am used to having young people live with me as I had a very open house in Cape Town. My aim is to create a cultural focal point in Gozo where there is lots happeneing and available funds from EU. Great oppertunity for someone forging a career for themselves in Art and Culture.
Travellers will learn a lot about the history and Culture of Gozo . They will be closely connected to all the artists and cultural spaces Museums galleries) in and around Victoria. Because you will be living right in the centre of victoria- where it all happens- you inevitably roll out onto the street with all the local people bussling about their daily business. The town sqare ( for coffee and gossip) is 3 min walk.
I am working on getting an Art Walkabout going in Victoria, Gozo. The mini Malta. This would be a great oppertunity for someone interested in Art and Culture and could consider it a alternative to an internship. I have been in and around art and culture for many years in Cape Town and Finland , managing art foundations and private collections but my children have recently flown the nest and I am starting my own adventure.
I have not done something like this before. The workaway must be able be an all around out the box thinker. There will be admin like press releases, emails and meetings with artists and councils. Must be profficient in English both written and spoken. Knowlage about art is important. Some techie knowlage is helpful for assisting with websites etc.
I would expect a couple of hours commited time in mornings- week days and to join me for important meetings. Someone who is really enthusiastic and driven could forge a place for themselves in the project long term. Caution: you will fall in love with Gozo and never want to leave.
English ( learning Italian)
I have a tiny odd little house in which you will have your tiny and odd little room. I admit that the shower is outdoors so great for summer but more dauntingb in winter. One shares loo in the house.
Malta and Gozo have some of the oldest Megalithic temples and a history that will enthrall you. There are religeous festas and little villages always have things on. If you love nature, this little island just keeps giving, the geography is facinating and I have a secret spot where I have found fossiles! Then there is the sunshine.....<3
