I am alone and trying to clear and organise my mother in law's house to rent out to help pay for her care. My original help has had a life changing event and can't help any more. There are things I can't move alone.
I am already a host on WorkAway, I have a profile for my project in Spain, I love Workaway it's the nicest thing that has happened to me in many years! I have met some really nice people and learned so much.
But right now, I have to empty, clean tidy and prepare the house n UK ready for some tenants.
It is a simple 3 bedroom house with a living room a kitchen and a bathroom, a garden front and back, but it has been disrespected by the last tenant and needs a bit of a clean up and some repairs. I'm a bit overwhelmed but I think with some companionship I will feel less scared...
It's not complicated and I have just about a week to do this and would welcome some help because it's lonely and daunting otherwise. I have to go back to Spain after and could extend an invitation to come with me or stay on for a week or 2 in my house in Portsmouth UK if you need, and give that some housework, because honestly my partner and his buddies are pretty much working and don't get round to it!!
I am the matriarch, I'm told!! Haha! I have 4 adult children a partner and a 92 ye old Mum in law. Also 6 grandchildren, I work in the summer only and spend the winter doing maintenance and being busy!
I'm socialist in my politics, I hate bigotry (are you allowed to do that?), I am supremely disinterested in how you dress, what you describe your gender to be, if you love everyone or no one.
I am struggling to learn Spanish so anyone who can help me and maybe chat in Spanish sometimes and correct my mistakes and expand my vocabulary while we work would be welcome!
I don't like drunk people, or smoking, it is too cruel an addiction for me not to comment.
I believe in work hard but have lots of chance for relaxation and fun and creativity or exploration....
My daughter Chilli and son Sam are looking after old lady in Spain, with some paid carers too, because dementia us a cruel illness that is hard to bear full time! Even for carers.
Help in the house
All the skills householder takes for granted when voiding a property, and a lot of fortitude! Language exchange obviously is a possibility, not far to London and Brighton, a few minutes from Gatwick airport so handy for travelling onward
I can offer you friendship, someone to talk to and maybe a bit if pub atmosphere at night, and a day off if you like in Portsmouth where I have my family home.
If we like each others company and the time space dynamics are right, I could invite you to share the road trip to Spain.
But that's another story!
Emptying house moving things to van for transportation, empty shed, cleaning, repairing minor damages, painting where needed, deep cleaning surfaces, a bit of help in the garden. Small handyman jobs like curtain poles, repairing kitchen cupboard, change broken light switches,
Make cups of tea!
English French and beginners Spanish
Private room, heated use of shared bathroom, use of washing machine, did when hungry in the day, an evening meal at night ...nothing that fancy I'm not going to spend long cooking, maybe a pub meal
I return to Spain as soon as the house is tidy again ...if you need accomodation for longer you can stay in Portsmouth with my partner Frank and his buddies, or come to Spain for more land based and refurbishment activities... I plan a road trip for which I would love s companion
