    Description

    Hello! I'm Danyal.

Life has blessed me with a vast piece of beachfront land on the beautiful island of Mauritius. The property comprises several houses that, with the help of numerous friends and dedicated workaways, have undergone renovation. Our collective efforts are aimed at creating a communal retreat with a strong focus on permaculture and spiritual development.

I currently reside alone on this land and have deeply immersed myself in the local culture and history. I am genuinely grateful for all the individuals who have lent their support and volunteered their time. I recognize that there is still much work ahead.

My home is truly magnificent and holds incredible potential. My vision is to open this space to artists, retreat facilitators, and those seeking respite from the hectic pace of life.

    Cultural exchange and learning opportunities

Mauritius is an amazingly culturally diverse country, where Hindus, Muslims, Christians, and Chinese coexist peacefully. My house is located not far from a typical Mauritian village, offering ample opportunities for cultural immersion and the creation of community projects.

Additionally, I am a certified yoga and qi gong teacher with several years of practice. I will gladly introduce you to these practices, along with my humble understanding of life and Indian spirituality. I have a deep appreciation for sharing knowledge and, most importantly, learning from you. I'm curious to discover the unique perspectives life has offered you so far in your journey of understanding.

This property has some extensive work ahead, and we don't expect it all to happen at once. We'll take it step by step, working towards completing general renovations, followed by ongoing maintenance and improvements.

The living quarters for our workers have been recently updated, but we're always open to creative contributions to make them even more welcoming. If you have skills in art, painting, or interior design, we'd love to see your ideas come to life. We also have a fully equipped workshop on-site, ready for building, repairing, and creative projects.

Below are the key projects that I am looking to have completed by a Workaway over the coming months.

    1. Organisation and decluttering: Support the organisation of different rooms around the property in preparation for a garage sale and donation event.

    2. Renovation Projects: Renovating the outdoor Workaway kitchen as well as general painting and maintenance around the property.

    3. Sustainable Living Initiatives: The design and implementation of an enhanced waste management and composting system.

    5. Carpentry Projects: Repairing damaged furniture and crafting new pieces from wood sourced from our around the property and repurposed wood from old furniture.

    6. Enhancing Workaway Accommodation: To create a more comfortable and welcoming living spaces for our team.

For me, this property and its mission serve as a profound journey of self-discovery. Each day unfurls with fresh experiences and challenges, fostering personal growth. I extend an invitation to all who join us to embrace a similar mindset, one where we collectively achieve daily and weekly goals with each other.

Drawing from my passion for yoga, consciousness, and self-development, I align our vision with four guiding principles:

Karma Yoga: Selflessly engaging in the tasks of the moment, imbued with love and mindfulness.
Bhakti Yoga: Crafting with fervor and dedication.
Jñana Yoga: Learning about the world and oneself through our actions and reactions, with an extensive library at your disposal.
Raja Yoga: Cultivating practices like yoga and meditation to nurture your body and spirit.
If you are eager to embark on this journey of self-inquiry, exploring the essence of life and self-discovery, this is a remarkable opportunity, and I welcome you to join us. Regardless of your path, your presence and positive spirit are a treasured addition to our collective efforts.

With a heart full of gratitude, I look forward to working alongside you. See you soon!

The house is quite isolated (20min walk from the nearest village). There will be lots of time for self reflection or reading by the beach. On days off there is the option to go visit the Island by public bus. Grand Baie (the tourist hub) is a 30min bus ride away, and has a good day and night life.
