Hi.
We are a friendly welcoming family of 4 with two teenagers 16 and 13 yrs old, a dog and two cats.
This a great spot to have as a base for the area. A train ride to explore endless trails in the pyrenees or a train ride in the other direction and your in the heart of Toulouse ‘the pink city’ . From Toulouse, easy to go to the Mediterranean sea in 1.30 h or join the Ocean in 3h.
We live in the middle of Pamiers and are renovating a house to move into on the edge of the country side. The house we are renovating also has a small piece of land we need to take care of, and thats where we need a little help!
As well as a spare room at our current house we also have a newly renovated cabin at our new house, nestled on a hill amongst some pine trees overlooking Pamiers, so if you get sick of family life and want some solitude there’s a lovely place to retreat to. Also a 5 minute walk from the house after help you can swim in the Ariège river to cool off :)

nous sommes une famille sympathique et accueillante de 4 personnes avec deux ado un de 16 ans et une de 13 ans, une gentille chienne et deux chats.
Nous trouvons que notre emplacement en Ariège est idéal ;)
Un trajet en train pour explorer les sentiers infinis des Pyrénées ou un trajet en train dans l'autre sens 45 min et vous êtes au cœur de Toulouse « la ville rose ». De plus, de Toulouse il est très facile d'aller en train jusqu'à la mer Méditerranée en 1h30 ou rejoindre l'océan en 3h.
Nous vivons au milieu de Pamiers et rénovons une maison pour emménager en bordure de campagne. La maison que nous rénovons possède également un petit terrain dont nous devons prendre soin, et c'est là que nous avons besoin d'un peu d'aide !
En plus d'une chambre libre dans notre maison actuelle, nous avons également une cabane récemment rénovée sur le terrain de la future nouvelle maison, nichée sur une colline au milieu de pins surplombant Pamiers, donc si vous en avez assez de la vie de famille et que vous voulez un peu de solitude, il y a un endroit charmant qui vous attend.
Également à 5 minutes à pied de la maison après le travail vous pourrez vous baigner dans la rivière Ariège pour vous rafraîchir :)

Why is a cultural exchange and what are you going to learn with us?
We love having people come and stay especially when they are from another cultures. Being a family of mixed cultures we have a lot to share and both our teen are interested in finding out more about other ways of living and are keen to learn more english as well as other languages.
We welcomed a young Thai girl for a school year 10 years ago and since then we have been addicted to these moments of sharing, discovery and openness.
Flore is a teacher working with kids across local schools and she grew up in the south of France. I am English and work as a carpenter / steel worker having run a renovation business in the uk.
Our teenagers are there every two week: Tom is passionate about basketball and Margot is a budding young artist/decorator.
We have a very friendly dog Mila who spends time with us at work all day and two cats: Touffu and Garf.
We can teach you how to play basketball, how to be trendy but above all how to prepare a good quiche Lorraine and more importantly, a good “English breakfast” ;)

Qu'allez vous apprendre avec nous dans cet échange culturel?
Nous aimons accueillir du monde et surtout découvrir et faire découvrir d'autres cultures, d'autres façon de vivre.
Étant une famille de cultures mixtes, nous avons beaucoup à partager et nos deux ados souhaitent découvrir et en savoir plus sur d'autres modes de vie.
Nous avons accueilli une jeune thaïlandaise pendant 1 année scolaire il y a 10 ans et depuis nous sommes addicts à ces moments de partage, de découverte et d'ouverture.
Flo est une enseignante spécialisée qui travaille avec des enfants dans les écoles locales, elle a grandi dans le sud de la France. Tom (Pip/Waw) est anglais et travaille comme charpentier/sidérurgiste, il a dirigé une entreprise de rénovation en Angleterre.
Nos ados sont là une semaine sur 2: Tom est passionné de basket et Margot une jeune artiste/décoratrice en herbe.
Nous avons une chienne très sympathique Mila qui passe du temps avec nous au travail toute la journée et deux chats: Touffu et Garf.
Nous pouvons vous apprendre à jouer au basket, à être branché mais surtout à préparer une bonne quiche lorraine et plus important encore, un bon « petit-déjeuner anglais » ;)

What is expected of someone?
The main reason we want someone to come and help us is because whilst renovating the house we don’t have the time or the money to work on the garden. There’s loads of hedges to cut and trees to work on.
You would need to have some experience of working with your hands and be able to do some hard physical work. Any landscaping or construction experience would be very welcomed! We aim to balance out the gardening tasks with helping us on some of the renovation, and helping out in the family, cooking some meals and perhaps some chores or helping our teens with homework !!
Qu'est-ce qu'on attend de vous?
La principale raison pour laquelle nous souhaitons que quelqu’un vienne nous aider est que, lors de la rénovation de la maison, nous n’avons ni le temps ni l’argent pour travailler dans le jardin. Il y a plein de haies à couper et d’arbres à travailler et peut être des fruits à ramasser ;)
Vous devez avoir une certaine expérience du travail manuel et être capable de travailler assez physiquement. Toute expérience en jardinage ou en construction serait la bienvenue ! Notre objectif est d'équilibrer les travaux de jardinage en nous aidant sur une partie de la rénovation et en aidant la famille, en préparant certains repas et peut-être certaines tâches ménagères, ou les devoirs des ados !!

Where are you going to sleep?
We offer a room in our house in the town center of Pamiers with plenty of storage and a bathroom to share. The little extra: when family life is too heavy you can go and sleep in the brand new cabin nestled on the hill at the future new house ;) tranquility guaranteed!

We take care of the meals and will be happy to share them with you, to introduce you to local dishes and also our specialties and yours!
où allez-vous dormir?
Nous proposons une chambre dans notre maison en centre ville de Pamiers avec de nombreux rangement et une salle de bain à partager. Le petit plus : quand la vie de famille est trop lourde vous pouvez aller dormir dans la cabane toute neuve nichée sur la colline à la future nouvelle maison ;) tranquillité garantie !

Nous prenons en charge les repas et serons contents de les partager avec vous, de vous faire découvrir les plats locaux et aussi nos spécialités et les votres!

what to do in your free time?
The town of Pamiers is quickly visited but the region offers an interesting cultural heritage: Cathar castles, museums, exhibitions, festivals of all kinds...
about transports: the station is just a stone's throw away and can take you:
- in one direction to Foix or even more in the heart of the Pyrenees for beautiful hikes, spa...
- in the other direction you will go to the center of Toulouse. From there you can also go to the sea in 1h30 or to the ocean in about 3h
quoi faire pendant vos temps libres?
La ville de Pamiers est très vite visitée mais la région offre un patrimoine culturel intéressant: châteaux cathares, musées, expositions, festivals en tout genre...
Niveau transport: la gare est à deux pas et peux vous conduire:
- dans un sens à Foix ou encore plus au coeur des Pyrénées pour de belles rando, spa...
- dans l'autre sens vous vous rendrez au centre de Toulouse. De là vous pouvez aussi aller au choix jusqu'à la mer en 1h30 ou bien à l'océan en environ 3h

Can possibly accept pets
Notre chienne est plutot cool mais vieillissante et elle a parfois a du mal avec d'autres chiens un peu trop foufous mais elle sait se faire respecter donc à voir.... Our dog is pretty cool but getting older and she sometimes has trouble with other dogs who are a little too crazy but she knows how to be respected so we'll see....
