    Description

    Kia Ora,

My partner Matt and I have a new homestead in Tutukaka, Whangārei and are needing some hands-on support to renovate our home. This will be in the realm of giving hand on support with , demolition, gardening, landscaping, maintenance of our land and of course some cleaning. Looking for people who have had experience on the tools, landscaping/gardening or conservation

What we love about Tutukaka is that it is the gateway to many beaches on the coast, our favorite being Whale Bay or Sandy Bay. We often go here to surf, fish, freedive or relax at the beach or in our hammock underneath the Pohutukawa trees.

There is also a 8-minute walk to a private beach from our property (and a yoga platform) and additionally 1–5-minute drive to 4 other beaches'. It is paradise! The local town Whangārei is a 35-minute drive although there are two small grocery stores a 5 minute drive. there is a gas station 5 minutes away also.

I have done many Worakaway's in the past as a volunteer, and now it's our first chance to host now we have our new home.

The closest town is Ngunguru where there are a community of sports facilities such as tennis, golf, soccer and a skatepark.

In Whangārei, as it is a small city, there are an abundance of activities to do including visiting the Hundertwasser museum, checking out local Māori art galleries and live music.

the reason why we live out here is for the ocean, to hunt grow and gather our food by / gardening , or surfing the waves when there is swell. We have long boards and have one extra we can lend if you can surf. We also have fishing rods, and a small boat that occasionally we will take out if the weather and time allows. There are multiple walking trails such as the a local loop (60 min) that starts on the bush in native trees behind our house, and a drive to start Whananaki walkway, or the lighthouse walk that take you through stunning coastal scenery.

It is ideal to have a car out these ways so you can access all the amazing beach's here along the coast to explore.

We have a private bedroom on offer with access to a shared bathroom with our flatmate in the hallway. If our flatmate is here (she stays 1/2 the week) you may have to share the bathroom with them but otherwise it is all yours's to use.

With food, we encourage you to provide your own lunch And snacks each day.
We will have breakfast and dinner sorted 5 days of the week. The other two days you will needs to cook for you're self unless we all go into a meal together for some shared cooking and fun!

My partner and I have full time jobs (I occasionally work from home) so would appreciate automy and independence on the days we are both not at home. Likely the weekends we will be there to be hands on doing some jobs with you followed by relaxing evening doing a bbq and relaxing.

  • What else ...

    What else ...

We recommend a vehicle as we live out of town and to assess the amazing titukakabeach's on the coast they are mostly car access only.

Goes without saying... but everyone has different standards. In our Whare (house) we appreciate respectful people when it comes to hygiene and cleanliness (keeping the bathroom and kitchen tidy after use) and being diligent if you see if the lunge needs a little vacuum or asking us if we need help. We can provide you a fresh sheets and a bath towel.

We are pretty flexible people, appreciate open communication, due dilligence and are happy to adapt if you are too.
