Description
Couples are generally welcome.
However, because we have a teenage daughter, we usually host women or couples only, and we do not accept single male guests.
Both my father and I are Bizen pottery artists.
We live in Bizen, Okayama, Japan, a historic pottery town known for traditional Japanese ceramics.
My father also grows peaches and grapes as a hobby.
Our Workaway is mainly for cultural exchange.
We are happy to share local life in Bizen, Japanese culture, family life, and the atmosphere of a pottery town.
Depending on the timing and our daily schedule, I may sometimes talk about Bizen pottery or show simple pottery techniques as part of the cultural exchange.
This is not required work, but something we may naturally share during the stay.
This year, we are planning to participate in art fairs and events in Berlin, Copenhagen, the Philippines, Poland, Brazil, Italy, and Osaka.
* 2 bicycles available for use
* My pottery studio is about a 5-minute walk away, but guests are not expected to help with studio work
Please note:
* No parties at the guesthouse, as there are neighbors next door
* The guesthouse and my home are separate
* When I am in Bizen, we may sometimes have lunch together as part of cultural exchange
Facilities
There is no Wi-Fi in the guesthouse.
However, Wi-Fi may be available in my studio when I am there, which is about a 5-minute walk away.
We prefer someone who can stay for more than one month.
However, we would first like to have a one-week trial stay.
After that, we will have a meeting, and if we both feel it is a good fit, we would be happy for you to stay longer. -

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
They can experience the beautiful nature and Bizen potter's life style in Japanese country side and also enjoy our house-grown fruits & vegetables. You can learn Japanese culture, different life styles and the process of making Bizen ware.
We would like to:
* Connect with potters and artists
* Communicate with gallerists and curators and learn about the art scene overseas
* Enjoy language exchange with me and my daughter -
Help

help about clay.I'm interested in food/dishes from different countries, so would be happy if you can cook your country food for us weekend if you can. ( If you don't like cooking, you don't have to do so. That's no problem.) I would also like to learn and practice speaking English.
We are especially interested in someone who:
* Has experience in ceramics, or

I enjoyed getting to know the family members as well,
Since he is also a video artist, I introduced him to a friend of mine who is an artist-in-residence.
Come visit us again.
