Description
A former humanitarian, I have lived in Reunion since 2016. My son, Kieran, with a disability, has traveled a lot with me and we are looking for an enthusiastic and open-minded person to come and take care of Kieran while exploring our beautiful island! We speak French, English and Lao/Thai. Kieran likes going out, music, pétanque, football and tennis matches which he follows with passion. We have a pool table at home which he also likes to play. He is very endearing and very sweet. He walks but is not independent in the actions of daily life. He says a few words and makes himself understood very well by showing or using words and gestures learned with his former au pairs. There are so many things to see and do on this beautiful island! Ancienne humanitaire, je me suis posée à La Réunion depuis 2016. Mon fils, Kieran, en situation de handicap, a beaucoup voyagé avec moi et nous cherchons une personne enthousiaste et ouverte d'esprit pour venir s'occuper de Kieran tout en explorant notre belle île! Nous parlons français, anglais et Lao/Thaï. Kieran aime les sorties, la musique, la pétanque, les matches de foot et de tennis qu'il suit avec passion. Nous avons un billard à la maison auquel il aime s'adonner également. Il est très attachant et très doux. Il marche mais n'est pas autonome pour les actions de la vie quotidienne. Il dit qqs mots et se fait très bien comprendre en montrant ou à l'aide de mots et de gestes appris avec ses ancien(ne)s au pair. Il y a énormément de choses à voir et à faire sur cette belle île ! Having lived a lot in Asia and having traveled to quite a few countries, I think I am someone who has a lot to share from a philosophical, geopolitical, and humanist point of view. Furthermore, very curious by nature, I am passionate about the medicinal plants of Reunion Island, trees, birds, traditions of all kinds. I like cooking. My passions: cultivating differences and therefore open-mindedness and advocacy for First Peoples, I also love anthropology and languages! I am a trained physiotherapist and also a cranio-sacral therapist. We are members of several great associations that offer activities for otherwise able people. We're playing pétanque! :)

Ayant beaucoup vécu en Asie et ayant voyagé dans pas mal de pays, je pense être qqn qui a pas mal de choses à partager tant d'un point de vue philosophique, géopolitique, et humaniste. Par ailleurs, très curieuse de nature, je me passionne pour les plantes médicinales de La Réunion, les arbres, les oiseaux, les traditions de tout ordre. J'aime cuisiner. Mes passions: cultiver les différences et donc l'ouverture d'esprit et le plaidoyer pour les Peuples Premiers, j'adore aussi l'anthropologie et les langues! Je suis kinésithérapeute de formation et également thérapeute cranio-sacré. Nous sommes membres de plusieurs supers associations qui proposent des activités aux personnes autrement capables. On fait de la pétanque! :)

Help
The school holidays are approaching and the idea is to get help to give Kieran a great vacation on his island. The person will need to have a driving license in order to travel with him (and me from time to time too) on the island. He loves it when there are friends at home and welcomes any suggestion to go out. Depending on your skills, whatever they are, we could set small learning goals for Kieran as well. Previous experience in disability is not necessary, I am just waiting for good energy, a little resourcefulness to move and the desire to meet Others. ;)

Les vacances scolaires approchent et l'idée est d'avoir de l'aide pour offrir à Kieran de belles vacances sur son île. La personne devra avoir un permis de conduire afin de bouger avec lui (et moi de temps en temps aussi) sur l'île. Il adore quand il y a des amis à la maison et est preneur de toute proposition de sortie. En fonction de tes compétences, quelles qu'elles soient, nous pourrions fixer des petits objectifs d'apprentissage pour Kieran également. Une expérience préalable dans le handicap n'est pas nécessaire, j'attends juste une belle énergie, un peu de débrouillardise pour bouger et l'envie d'aller à la rencontre des Autres. ;)

Accommodation
We live in a single storey house of 80m2 with an extraordinary view of the mountains and the ocean. On the other hand, we are at altitude at 1260m and it is very cool in the southern winter from 5 p.m. to 9 a.m. in the morning. We have electric heaters. We live here to be as close as possible to authentic Reunion Island. The people there are very welcoming and spontaneous. They often speak Creole but are generally ready to make an effort in French. Reunion Creole is not very complicated, you just have to get used to the accent. I cook, French, Belgian, Thai, Nepalese, Indian and Greek.

Nous habitons une maison de plein pied de 80m2 avec une vue extraordinaire sur les montagnes et sur l'océan. Par contre, nous sommes en altitude à 1260m et il fait très frais en hiver austral de 17h à 9h le matin. Nous avons des chauffages électriques. Nous vivons ici afin d'être au plus près de La Réunion authentique. Les gens y sont très accueillants et spontanés. Ils parlent bien souvent le créole mais sont prêts en général à faire un effort en français. Le créole réunionnais n'est pas très compliqué, il faut juste se faire à l'accent. Je cuisine, français, belge, thaï, népalais, indien et grec.
What else ...
There are superb walks in the area because we live not too far from the volcano which wakes up from time to time but no danger!! There are buses that pass regularly on the street at the top of the cul-de-sac but nothing is accessible without a car within a good half-hour walk. The seafront is 35-40 minutes away by car but you can see it from the garden! ;) Oh yes! We are early risers and Kieran likes to listen to music in the morning BUT I got him some wireless headphones and he seems to like it! :)

Il y a de superbes ballades dans le coin car nous vivons pas trop loin du volcan qui s'éveille de temps en temps mais pas de danger!! Il y a des bus qui passent régulièrement dans la rue en haut de l'impasse mais rien n'est accessible sans voiture à moins d'une bonne demi-heure de marche. Le front de mer est à 35-40 minutes en voiture mais on le voit du jardin! ;) Ah oui! Nous sommes des lève-tôt et Kieran aime écouter de la musique le matin MAIS je lui ai offert un casque sans fil et il semble apprécier! :)
