Description
We are looking for couples to help us on our farm this spring, starting early march (open end).
Come and live on an active farm! Our beautiful oceanfront farm sits on 83 acres in Sooke on Vancouver Island and includes a large forest, hayfields, 2 vacation homes and 1 bed & breakfast, a cider orchard, a nut orchard, vegetable gardens, flower beds and animal enclosures.
We are looking for couples to help on our farm. Work includes resetting our vacation homes and working in the bed & breakfast (making breakfast and housekeeping), taking care of our animals, working in the vegetable gardens and berry patches, and general maintenance.
We have 2 donkeys, a llama, 4 pigs, 4 sheep, 6 goats, 5 rabbits, 2 cows, 1 turkey, 16 ducks, and close to 100 chickens. All our animals are pets :-)
We pay minimum wage including free accommodation on the farm with all utilities included.
Farm workers live in a trailer/camper van on the property; one couple lives in an apartment in the Bed & Breakfast.
Non-smokers only.

Cultural exchange and learning opportunities
We have a small team working together on a big goal. We are a mix of locals and international workaway helpers who work closely together on this beautiful farm. It is a fun, supportive and close community. We have team lunch on Fridays and hang out together after work on Saturdays. We always look for friendly, outgoing helpers that like to interact with our team and bring fun stories to the campfires we often have on Saturday nights.
Sooke and the surrounding areas are known for outdoor activities and fun to explore. Our farm is right on the ocean so you can walk on the beach before work or enjoy a sundowner after. Beaches, rainforests, wildlife and beautiful small towns are all within short car rides.

Help
A love for animals is a must. Our farm is being built on the idea of sharing this with our community by welcoming visitors to the farm so they can learn how food is grown and gain some hands-on experience with animals. We are working hard to turn this old farm into a beautiful place that people will want to visit over and over again.
Work is physical and mostly outside, rain or shine. Taking care of our animals is a big part of the work at the farm. This includes cleaning the coops.
Resetting our vacation homes and cleaning the bed & breakfast is also a big part of the work and is done by everyone on our team. This includes all types of house cleaning work (doing laundry, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming etc.).
Farm workers must speak good English to communicate with the team and farm visitors. A friendly, polite, and presentable demeanor is required in order to interact with customers and visitors.

Accommodation
The farm workers live in a trailer (camper van) on the farm. It has one bedroom with a queen sized bed in it, a small bathroom with a shower, a small storage room, and a kitchen/dining/living room space. Since the trailer only has one bedroom with one bed in it, it is suitable for a couple sharing a bed.
One couple lives in an apartment in the Bed & Breakfast. This is a spacious space with a bedroom, bathroom, large living and dining area. There is a small fridge and a toaster oven in the apartment, the main cooking takes place in the kitchen of the Bed & Breakfast.
There is room for 3 temporary couples on the farm - we always have an international team with people from all over the world.
There is a strict no-smoking rule on the entire farm.
