    Description

We are looking for 2 couples to help us on our farm this summer - one couple starting early May, the other one at the end of May/early June for at least 3 months.

Come and live on an active farm! Our beautiful oceanfront farm sits on 83 acres in Sooke on Vancouver Island and includes a large forest, hayfields, 2 vacation homes and 1 bed & breakfast, a cider orchard, a nut orchard, vegetable gardens, flower beds and animal enclosures.

We are looking for energetic, friendly, outgoing and active couples to help on our farm. Work includes resetting our vacation homes and working in the bed & breakfast (making breakfast and housekeeping), taking care of our animals, working in the vegetable gardens and berry patches, general maintenance, interacting with guests on our farm and working at farmers markets (selling our produce). We are looking for couples with excellent English skills and a high energy level.

We have 2 donkeys, a llama, 4 pigs, 6 sheep, 6 goats, 5 rabbits, 2 cows, 1 turkey, 16 ducks, and close to 100 chickens. All our animals are pets :-)

We pay minimum wage including free accommodation on the farm with all utilities included.
Accommodation for temporary helpers is in a trailer/camper van, in an apartment in the Bed & Breakfast or a mobile home, depending on which one is available. They are all on the property.

    Non-smokers only.

We have a small team working together on a big goal. We are a mix of locals and international workaway helpers who work closely together on this beautiful farm. It is a fun, supportive and close community. We have team lunch on Fridays and hang out together after work on Saturdays. We always look for friendly, outgoing helpers that like to interact with our team and guests and bring fun stories to the campfires we often have on Saturday nights.
Sooke and the surrounding areas are known for outdoor activities and fun to explore. Our farm is right on the ocean so you can walk on the beach before work or enjoy a sundowner after. Beaches, rainforests, wildlife and beautiful small towns are all within short car rides.

Our farm is being built on the idea of welcoming visitors to the farm so they can learn how food is grown and gain some hands-on experience with animals. We are working hard to turn this old farm into a beautiful place that people will want to visit over and over again.
We host children's birthday parties on the weekends, school visits during the spring and summer, a weekly farmers market on Saturdays and farm events every Saturday in the summer months.
We are looking for friendly chatty people that enjoy interacting with our guests, work at the markets and at our farm events.
Work is physical and mostly outside, rain or shine. Taking care of our animals is a big part of the work at the farm. This includes cleaning the coops. A love for animals is a must.
Resetting our vacation homes and cleaning the bed & breakfast is also a big part of the work. This includes all types of house cleaning work (doing laundry, making beds, cleaning bathrooms, vacuuming etc.).
Farm workers must speak excellent English to communicate with the team and farm visitors. A friendly, polite, and presentable demeanor is required in order to interact with customers and visitors.

We have room for 4 couples:
Two couples live in a trailer (camper van) on the farm. It has one bedroom with a queen sized bed in it, a small bathroom with a shower, a small storage room, and a kitchen/dining/living room space. Since the trailer only has one bedroom with one bed in it, it is suitable for a couple sharing a bed.
One couple lives in an apartment in the Bed & Breakfast. This is a spacious space with a bedroom, bathroom, large living and dining area. There is a small fridge and a toaster oven in the apartment, the main cooking takes place in the kitchen of the Bed & Breakfast.
We also have an older larger mobile home on the property for a 4th couple.

We always have an international team with people from all over the world.

There is a strict no-smoking rule on the entire farm.
