We are 2 Irish filmmakers making a film in the incredible city of Belgrade - We've been trying to do it alone, and with an hour here and there hour from various friends we have here, but we really need someone to be with us more consistently.
We work in a very experimental and personal way and like to develop intimate and long standing relationships with our cast and crew. Our film is a series of images without a concrete sense of time or narrative. The protagonist "Dreamz" sleeps in an old cinema during the day and wonders the enchanted city at night. We have a fantastic cast and many equally fantastic friends who we really hope to share with you and the world.
We are just a couple of romantics into Tarkovsky, Beckett, rave culture, people and the world. We hope our work will be transformative one day.
You will get to know an incredible bunch of people in a truly fascinating city. Belgrade is the New York of the Balkans. You will spend time in one of the oldest and most famous cinemas in the world. You will be included in a very beautiful life. You will expand your knowledge on the various facets of experimental filmmaking.
We are making this film on a shoestring. However it is impossible to run the camera, lighting, sound, direction and production with only 2 people. It would be great if people have had experience with any of these things but being patient, committed and good with people is more than enough. We can teach you whatever is required. All for the love of art...
Our time is split between living and working in the cinema in the centre and a commune in Zemun.
The cinema is an old, beautiful, art-deco, Tito stlye cinema that was famously occupied by a group of young filmmakers 4 years ago. It became an infamous political statement throughout the world and has been playing films ever since.
The commune is an art/screen-printing/comic-book/music-collective commune/space in Zemun (a district of Belgrade). It is filled with top quality kind and warm individuals, a cat that will cradle your soul and beautiful old wood-burning stoves keeping the place warm.
Depending on when you come, you will either be staying at the cinema or in the commune. In either case you can have your own room and bedding.
The commune host various fairs, exhibitions and parties thought the year.
The cinema is bang in the middle of Belgrade on the main street. There are easy bus routes to and from the airport, train and bus station.
The commune in Zemun is close to the airport and taxis are cheap.
The number 15 bus runs from Zemun to the centre.
We regularly visit Belgrade's many markets and can give suggestion of what to do in your spare time. Belgrade has a notorious club scene.
